Welcome to Thursday, y’all! The other day I was strolling through my favorite shoe store, DSW, to return some boots and browse the selection. Naturally, I tried on almost all the sample shoes… It’s just what I do! I hobble around with one shoe on and try on as many sample shoes as will fit my foot. Today I want to talk about a cause (and Christmas present idea!) that is very close to my heart. Every year, an organization called the Friends for Life Guild sells beautiful glass-blown ornaments and candle votives to help raise money for pediatric cancer research. Have you heard Instagram’s big news?? The Facebook-owned company is considering removing the ‘like’ counting feature in an effort to decrease the competitiveness and negative mental health effects of their platform. They’ve already been running ‘like’-free trials in other countries, like Canada and Japan, and now select U.S. users will experience an Instagram world without ‘likes’ as well (how these “select users” are determined remains a mystery, however, as articles are very vague about this aspect of Instagram’s plan). To be clear, this doesn’t mean you wouldn’t be able to ‘like’ your favorite photos, or even check how many ‘likes’ your own photos receive.
