Even though I don’t consider myself a very trendy person, I do generally like to do at least one blog post in the first half of the year that features the Pantone Color of the Year (or at least, features an item in my closet that’s the closest to the actual pantone color). My Viva Magenta post is probably my favorite of the tradition, but I also styled monochrome grey with a fun yellow backdrop in 2021 and have even worn this exact cardigan for the Living Coral shade in 2019. This year’s “it” color is called Peach Fuzz, and it just so happens that this sweater is a near-perfect match.
Of course I had to look back and investigate how similar Living Coral is to Peach Fuzz since I styled the same piece for both years—as it turns out, they’re not very similar at all! Living Coral is a much more vibrant, salmon-like tone, whereas Peach Fuzz is much softer (pun intended). Really, I had no business wearing this cardigan in 2019. I guess it must have been the closest thing to Living Coral that I had in my closet at the time.
This year, however, I think the cardigan is much better suited for Peach Fuzz. I’ve had it in my closet since middle school when my grandma bought me a very cute outfit for my birthday. At some point one of the pearlescent buttons hit a countertop and shattered, and I’ve just never replaced it. But it’s not that noticeable, right? That’s what I tell myself.
Here’s what the Pantone Executive Director Leatrice Eiseman had to say about the color on the Pantone website: “In seeking a hue that echoes our innate yearning for closeness and connection, we chose a color radiant with warmth and modern elegance. A shade that resonates with compassion, offers a tactile embrace, and effortlessly bridges the youthful with the timeless.”
While I do like the peachy color in theory, I’ve learned over the years that anything close to blush or peach just isn’t my shade, as much as I want it to be. What can I say—that “radiant warmth” just has a way of washing me out! I do think I can pull off slightly darker shades, though, like the salmony Living Coral or even some dusty roses. All that to say, you probably won’t see me in Peach Fuzz again unless it’s this cardigan.
I wore this outfit to work on an overcast spring day earlier this week. I actually think it (and the color) seem more fall-like than springy in this outfit, but maybe that’s just because it’s a sweater. I actually wanted to pair it with a different white blouse but came to realize that all my other white tops are dirty. I opted for this fringe bodysuit instead which, while not my first choice, added some interesting texture to an otherwise plain outfit.
I’ve rarely been reaching for my skinny jeans these days, but I do still grab them to pair with my cowgirl boots every once in a while. I wore my boots out dancing last weekend and it just reminded me that I don’t wear them often enough! I topped the outfit off with a dainty Kendra Scott necklace, rose gold clip-on earrings, and the cutest olive green bag that my aunt got for me from Three Arrows Gallery, a local boutique that sells pieces from various Colorado women-owned small businesses. Pink and green are my two favorite colors, and the strap of the bag encapsulates that perfectly!

I just love this sweater with the cowboy boots. And you know switching out buttons is one of the easiest things to do??

I love it! My cowboy boots are one of my favorite pairs of shoes. That purse is really nice. I am noticing I like simpler purses nowadays, those are the ones I actually wear and that strap is just the perfect thing to add interest.
