Practicing Gratitude

With Thanksgiving just one week away, I wanted to write a special post reflecting on the practice of gratitude, as well as sharing an outfit idea for Turkey Day. While I don’t discriminate against any of the holidays, Thanksgiving was one I never particularly looked forward to growing up. Of course, I loved all the delicious food and pie and time spent with family; however, unlike Christmas or Easter, I never anxiously waited for Thanksgiving or spent weeks preparing for it. This year is different. College has given me a newfound perspective and appreciation for the holiday—I’ve been anticipating it for weeks, longing for the homecooked food, irksome siblings, and smell of my own house that I always took for granted in years past. There is just so much for which to be grateful, but sadly I think a lot of us often forget to celebrate that. Continue reading

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again—I LOVE Halloween costumes, so today’s post is dedicated to yesterday’s ensemble, Audrey Hepburn as the star of Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Lots of college students and young adults take Halloween as an opportunity to dress a little more *scandalously* than usual, but I decided to instead epitomize class and elegance by going as this fashion icon and actress. The Best Last-Minute Halloween Costumes

It’s that time of year again…Halloween! If you know me at all, then you know I absolutely LOVE costumes, as evidenced by my numerous costume posts. Unfortunately, Halloween always occurs during (possibly) the busiest time of year for me. Last October, I was frantically applying for colleges up until the deadline as the clock struck 12 to become November 1st. This year, I’ll be preparing for registration for my next quarter of college. As much as I’d love to spend countless hours and craft supplies making an amazingly extravagant costume, I probably won’t be able to pull that off…and I know I’m not the only one.
