Come on Barbie, let’s go party! How fun is this trend?? I’m not usually one to follow meme culture but decided I had to partake in a “This Barbie” Instagram post, especially when I realized it’s as easy as uploading a photo to this AI generator. Which Barbie are you? Are you hyped about the new film? The internet sure is!

Monday, April 10

I started my week in Las Vegas, going into my grandpa’s office with him at 4 am to get the workday started off early. I spent the afternoon hanging with my family before heading to the airport and flying back to Denver (I changed into pants to stay warm on the flight!).

I always love monochromatic looks but never style them myself. I decided to give it a try today with this gorgeous lace blouse (one of my favorite clothing items) and beige tweed pencil skirt (which has a hint of burnt orange/red throughout the fabric). I absolutely love how the outfit came together and felt so chic in it! I have a matching blazer that goes with this skirt but decided the full skirt suit was a little overdressed for my rather casual office.

Lace Blouse: H&M, $30 ($3.00 per wear), last worn here | Tweed Pencil Skirt: Ann Taylor via Poshmark, $35 ($17.50 per wear), last worn here | Beige Heels: Vivaia, gifted by brand, last worn here

I’ve been feeling so inspired to style proper workwear lately (more on that in tomorrow’s post), so here’s another cute yet professional outfit. My flats are actually a gorgeous maroon velvet, but they always look black in my OOTD photos.

It was so warm the first half of the week that I was able to leave the house without a jacket! Woohoo! I just threw on this polka dot dress today with white sandals, a look I’ve worn countless times. As a team bonding sort of exercise, a few of my coworkers and I planted seeds today at work—I decided to grow marigolds (I read that they’re very easy to grow). Hopefully I see sprouts within the next week or two!

After work, I rushed home to get ready for a fun night out with my aunt. We went to dinner at Fire, the restaurant inside the Art Hotel downtown, which was absolutely delicious. And then we walked across the street to the venue of the event. My aunt got us tickets to attend Fever’s Haunted Tavern, a cocktail experience where actors tell ghost stories while audience members sip on four signature cocktails. We had no idea what to expect, but the event ended up being a ton of fun—more comedic than actually spooky. I even got called on stage to participate!

I wasn’t sure what to wear, but then my aunt suggested something black to stick with the spooky theme. I decided on this pretty top with fun statement sleeves and a glittery floral design. I’ve had it for years but have somehow never worn it before (for shame!). Tonight’s event was the perfect debut for it—I tucked it into my bra for a cropped look and paired it with jeans for a more casual vibe.

Friday, April 14

I have to admit, I was feeling a little rough this morning after last night’s escapades… but I rallied and managed to throw on this very casual outfit for work—this was my go-to look on sick days when I was in high school.

Well, as if I wasn’t already having a day, something very interesting happened… I was standing talking to one of my coworkers in her office, and then my other coworker interrupted by tapping me on the shoulder, very calmly telling me that I had “an issue”. I looked down to see that my entire right butt cheek was hanging out of my pants! Somehow they had gotten a massive rip in them and I had no idea! The three of us starting laughing hysterically, and it was hard to focus the rest of the day… So many things raced through my head. How long had they been ripped? How many other people saw my butt? What if my male boss had seen me! Thank goodness there weren’t many people in the office that day and that it was a female coworker who spotted it. She later commented on how pretty my underwear were—HA! I’m sure we’ll be laughing about this incident for years to come.

Remember the Deadbolt Mystery Society box I talked about in last week’s weekly recap? Well, the mystery was so difficult to solve that my friend and I needed more time to figure it out. We met up over Zoom again this morning and finally caught the killer! Even though it took us around six hours in total to complete the puzzle box, it was really fun. Our box was rated 8/10 for difficulty, so if you decide to try Deadbolt Mystery Society yourself, I recommend trying out a 6 or 7 first—just for time’s sake!

I took some blog photos in the afternoon with the help of my boyfriend, and then we met up with one of his friends to see the new anime Suzume in theaters. Overall, I liked the movie—not the best thing I’ve ever seen but the style of it was so stunning and magical!

. . . . .

Sunday, April 16

I just spent today in running shorts and a t-shirt, scrambling around my apartment trying to check off lots of to-do list items. The weekend always goes by too fast!

. . . . .

How was your week? Which of these outfits is your favorite? Hope you have a great evening.

Miles of smiles,

Grace

  1. Well, I’ve always thought your shoes from Wednesday were cute, but apparently they made a bigger impression than I thought. I dreamed last night that I had them (and was wearing them while playing the violin, which I’ve never touched), so was naturally VERY disappointed to wake up haha.
