Let’s Brighten Up January with The Thrifty Six

I got my new tripod on Saturday, and it feels SO good to finally share an outfit post again! I’ve missed blogging and have felt very odd not posting the last few weeks (aside from my weekly recaps, of course—but I don’t really count those). Today’s blog post is my monthly collaboration with the Thrifty Six, and Emma chose the theme ‘Brighten Up January’ for this month. Usually I really dislike January—all the holidays are over, it’s cold and dark, and everybody is trying to have a healthy start to the new year (which generally means eating less sweets, boo). Emma’s idea was perfect—to make January less gloomy by forcing us to wear fun colors, instead of the dark colors so common in the dreary winter months. Preppy Layers with The Thrifty Six

Time for another Thrifty Six collaboration! This month’s theme was coats/outerwear… so you may be thinking, “Grace, you’re not even wearing a coat.” This is true. I cheated a little this month because I realized I don’t own any secondhand outerwear, and since I don’t really need another coat, either, I decided to skip a trip to the thrift store. Velvet with The Thrifty Six

When the theme ‘velvet’ was announced for this month’s Thrifty Six collaboration, I knew right away I wanted to style this blue, fish-like dress. I don’t wear velvet very often, let alone secondhand velvet. But I quickly remembered I brought this blue dress to school this quarter—with the highly unlikely hope that I would have a reason to wear it—and the velvet leopard print overlay fit the theme perfectly.
