May Monthly Round-Up

leopard dress, snakeskin sandals, JCPenney, DSW

Today I want to start the tradition of publishing a monthly round-up blog post at the end of each month. I’ve seen other bloggers do these weekly and monthly recap posts (especially Styled by McKenz—if you don’t follow her, you should!), and I love the journal-like vibe of them. Not to mention, I’m not the best at setting short-term goals. I always have the big ideas swirling in my head but have a much harder time breaking them down to smaller, more manageable chunks and timeframes. Hopefully these monthly posts help me do just that, as well as allow me to share what has inspired, entertained, and interested me during this past month. Here we go! The Dos and Don’ts of Pattern Mixing

pattern mixing, how to mix prints, navy on navy

I feel like it’s been forever since I shared a good ol’ fashioned ‘style tips and tricks’ blog post, so I figured this bold outfit was the perfect opportunity to dish on what I’ve learned about pattern mixing over the years. I never used to mix prints before I started blogging, but through a lot of trial and error, it’s now one of my favorite ways to spice up any outfit! Why is pattern mixing worth the trouble? Suddenly, you can make so many more outfit combos from the pieces you already own! So here are some of the print mixing tricks I’ve learned and the mistakes I’ve learned to avoid. Shoeless Quarantine OOTDs

blue pattern mixing, collared shirt, bedazzled skirt, white studded mules

I’m missing taking pretty pictures at the Denver Botanic Gardens right now… And wearing cute shoes. But until I can do that again, I realized it’s about time to share my most recent outfits of the day in a blog post! Now I’ll be honest… even though I advocated for getting dressed every day of online classes, there were still a few days of quarantine where I just lounged in sweatpants. What can I say, I’m human. But for the rest of the days, here are some of my favorite outfits from the last few weeks inside. Usually I share where I wore each outfit in this kind of post, but uh… since we’ve all been doing our best to stay home, I think you can guess where I wore these looks—the kitchen, the living room, my bedroom… You’ll also notice that my quarantine style has evolved to include basically no jewelry and no shoes. That’s just how we roll. As always, I listed where I bought each item, how much it cost, and linked it to the last blog post in which it was featured! Which outfits would YOU wear?!
