I took this cover photo on Thursday, but it’s pretty deceiving because holy cow, it is COLD right now! My brother and sister-in-law live in Minnesota, so I guess I can’t complain… but it was a high of 9 degrees today and is currently only 1. Do you think I’m a chicken if I work from home tomorrow just because it’s in the negatives? I have been questioning that all day… Anyway, here are my outfits of the week—a couple that I really love and the rest are just so-so. Let me know your thoughts!

Monday, January 23

It was a rather slow day at work, and then I spent the evening planning the hot springs trip that my boyfriend and I will be taking in February (which I mentioned in my 2023 goals blog post). I wore this same outfit last weekend with a beanie and this time decided to try wearing my scarf the “trendy” way like all the Instagram girlies—it’s cute draped over one shoulder but doesn’t really stay in place.

You know how I mentioned I’m trying to cook more in the new year? I spent basically the whole evening making a gluten-free chicken pot pie. Even though it took a long time, it was so worth it—the meal was delicious!

As for today’s outfit, I didn’t love it… These polka dot tights are so cute in theory but always look really unflattering, like I’m a five-year-old wearing leggings under my skirt. (They’re really thick—so they actually keep me warm but at the expense of making my legs look bigger than they are.) I think I might finally donate them… I’m never happy with my outfits when I wear these tights. The sweater and skirt combo would have been really cute with sheer polka dot tights like the ones I linked, though.

Pink Sweater: JCPenney, $18 ($0.33 per wear), last worn here | Black Corduroy Skirt: Francesca’s, $35 ($0.95 per wear), last worn here | Polka Dot Tights: DSW, $15 ($2.50 per wear) | Black Booties: Vivaia, gifted by brand, last worn here

It was a busy day of meetings at work, and then I attended a required Make-A-Wish training in the evening—another goal I mentioned in my post earlier this week is volunteering as a wish granter for the organization. Unlike my outfits on Monday and Tuesday, I loved today’s look. I’m going to add it to my list of outfits to properly photograph for a blog post. The monochrome grey is so stylish for the winter, and the snakeskin booties really tie it all together.

Grey Turtleneck: Bohme Boutique, $30 ($1.30 per wear), last worn here | Leather Jacket: Blank NYC via local boutique, $25 ($0.51 per wear), last worn here | Grey Jeans: Express, $19 ($0.40 per wear), last worn here | Snakeskin Booties: Thrifted, $11 ($3.67 per wear), last worn here | Pearl Belt: Francesca’s, $5 ($0.45 per wear), last worn here

I worked from home today—hence the ripped jeans—and was SO productive both professionally and personally. Among the many to-do list items I accomplished was photographing one of my favorite outfits ever, this retro workwear look. I also made a Reel that you can watch here, featuring the black and white photo that is the cover for today’s blog post!

I wore my new fashion sneakers that I got for an upcoming collaboration for the first time today and they are unbelievably comfortable. I also tried cuffing my straight-leg jeans—what do you think? They look cute cuffed in this pic but I question how flattering it is otherwise.

Purple Sweater: Hand-me-down, last worn here | Black Vest: JCPenney, $15 ($0.37 per wear), last worn here | Straight-Leg Jeans: Express, $15 ($1.50 per wear), last worn here | Sneakers: UIN Footwear, gifted by brand

After work today, I went over to a friend’s apartment to help him move—lugging tubs up and down four flights of stairs is always a fun task… It’s hard to tell from this pic, but my ribbed bodysuit is a lavender color that matched my new sneakers perfectly. I thought this outfit was super cute, and it reminded me of my high school days. All that’s missing is a belt!

Light Purple Bodysuit: Macy’s, $10 ($1.67 per wear) | Denim Jacket: JCPenney, $19 ($0.11 per wear), last worn here | Black Jeans: Express, $42 ($1.14 per wear), last worn here | Sneakers: UIN Footwear, gifted by brand

I spent alllll day helping my friend finish the moving process. We started around 10:30 am and didn’t finish until 5 o’clock! But boy, was it satisfying to finally be done. The lugging stuff back and forth is always a pain but I absolutely love unpacking and organizing everything into an empty space!

Grey Sweatshirt: Dillard’s, $30 ($2.50 per wear) | Black Jeans: Express, $42 ($1.14 per wear), last worn here | Sneakers: UIN Footwear, gifted by brand

Sunday, January 29

I had a pretty lazy morning, watched some football, did some blog work, and then met up with my cousin and some of his family for dinner. Isn’t this outfit so stinking cute?? I’ve had this green felt hat for at least 15 years… I remember the day my mom bought it for me at a craft fair in the basement of my elementary school… but I almost never wear it. I have no idea why—I think it’s SO cute for the winter! And you can add brooches to it too to dress it up a little. I think the brown and green work surprisingly well together.

Brown Sweater: Banana Republic, $40 ($1.67 per wear), last worn here | Black Jeans: Express, $42 ($1.11 per wear), last worn here | Snow Boots: DSW, $40 ($1.25 per wear), last worn here | Green Scarf: Unknown, $25 ($2.08 per wear), last worn here | Felt Hat: Craft festival, $50 ($16.67 per wear)

. . . . .

Which of this week’s outfits is your favorite? If you’re also experiencing an arctic front this weekend, I hope you’re staying warm out there. I predict lots of layers in next week’s weekly recap!

Miles of smiles,
Grace

    1. Hm… I guess I’m not sure. They’re not a real denim material – definitely have some stretch – but I’ve found that the high-waisted pairs are really flattering in my stomach and butt areas.
