Happy new year! 2024, wow, can you believe it? I don’t think a year has ever gone by so fast as 2023 did… I still feel like my trip to Puerto Rico was last month when in reality it was in March. My boyfriend and I rang in 2024 with a few friends in downtown Denver at a hotel party. I’m soooo sleepy today (I was already yawning at 9:30 last night) but at least it was beautiful and sunny out, the perfect way to kickstart the new year.
Today is National Absurdity Day (there’s a day for everything), so the theme for November’s Thrifty Six collaboration is absurd outfits. My initial thought went to a huge, teal, tulle Betsy Johnson dress that I thrifted for $1 and have never worn (because it’s so out there), but then I remembered it’s still at my parents’ house in Boise. So I had to go with Plan B instead. Since I don’t have any one thrifted item that’s particularly absurd, my goal was to put together a few of my funkier thrifted pieces for an overall absurd outfit. The last weekly recap of 2022! I’m also sharing a photo from my 5th annual Elf on the Shelf photoshoot. For those of you who don’t follow me on Instagram, for the past five Christmases, I have dressed up as a makeshift elf and found a place in or around my parents’ house to sit. It all started in winter of 2018 when my mom pointed out that the red basketball shorts and green jacket I wore to bed looked very elf-like. An elf hat and some (rather annoying) jingling slippers later, a Christmas tradition was born.
