I finally had plans this weekend but still didn’t manage to get a blogworthy pic for today’s cover photo—so I’m resharing this oldie from my October 2022 Month in Review, featuring my favorite sweater that I’ve worn two Saturdays in a row. You can still see some of the lighter, bleached bits leftover in my hair from when I dyed it purple. I still have an inch or two of color left in my hair now, but after my next haircut I think it will all finally be gone. End of an era!

I usually work from home on Mondays, but I had my next laser hair removal appointment on the other end of town and decided to swing into the office for the second half of the day. This is one of my go-to work outfits—simple, comfortable, and I know it will always look good together, perfect for getting dressed on a Monday.

I was tentatively supposed to have jury duty today, but all the jurors ended up being excused—so disappointing! I actually really wanted to go because I’ve never been part of the process before. Since jury duty was “cancelled,” I instead had a whole work day without meetings, which was a welcome alternative.

I had a meeting this morning at a district attorney’s office, which was kind of intimidating—it was my first time meeting a lot of people in person. I wanted an outfit that was the perfect mix of professional, but not overdressed or too showy, and I think I nailed it. I could have worn lots of different shoes with this look (including my red flats) but I opted for my black Rothy’s for maximum comfort and minimum flashiness.

Striped Cowl Blouse: Nordstrom Rack, $20 ($1.05 per wear), last worn here | Grey Blazer: JCPenney, $35 ($1.84 per wear), last worn here | Black Skinny Jeans: Express, $42 ($0.82 per wear), last worn here | Black Flats: Rothy’s, $100 ($20 per wear)

Aside from my big in-person meeting at the DA’s office on Wednesday, it was a very slow work week in terms of meetings, so I had another whole day with no distractions. I used to actually really like meetings (unpopular opinion) because they break up the work day, but now that I’ve gotten so busy, I do appreciate large blocks of time just to work.

I thought today’s look was really cute for a casual outfit but I’d lose the vest next time. I call this my Shakespeare top because the sleeves remind me of portraits from that era (all I’m missing is the white accordion neckpiece thing), and my mom says these jeans make me look like the Hulk because they’re shredded at the bottom. Ha.

Top: Francesca’s, $25 ($1.19 per wear), last worn here | Black Vest: JCPenney, $15 ($0.34 per wear), last worn here | Grey Jeans: Express, $19 ($0.33 per wear), last worn here | Blue Suede Booties: White Mountain via DSW, $42 ($0.70 per wear), last worn here

I thought I might end up taking the afternoon off today after a long week, but instead I got wrapped up cleaning/combining a bunch of spreadsheets, which I worked late to finish. It was a long and at times tedious task, but now having one organized, clearly labeled spreadsheet will make my life so much easier next week! Anyway, I got so wrapped up in it that I never ended up putting on real clothes… I really need to get into the habit of getting dressed first thing in the morning but sometimes I admittedly like to work in bed, even though I know I’m not supposed to.

My boyfriend wants to see all the films nominated for Best Picture this year, so we watched The Holdovers last night on Peacock and then walked to a movie theater today to see both American Fiction and Poor Things. Poor Things was SO weird.

I usually pair this sweater with light wash jeans but today I wanted to try it with this grey bootcut pair instead… I’m not sure how much I love the look, though—it seems like one of those things that was cuter in my head. Or maybe I just need taller heels to pair with the pants.

Sunday, January 28

I tried to take some blog photos today but ended up lounging poolside and in the hot-tub for most of the afternoon—in January! It was so sunny and beautiful out, getting me way too excited for spring.

. . . . .

Let me know which of this week’s outfits is your favorite, and thanks for stopping by the blog today.

Miles of smiles,
Grace
