Looking Ahead to 2024 + A Blogging Update

I saw a lot of Reels and Instagram posts at the beginning of the year about prioritizing rest and a slower pace of life in January, instead of spending the first month of 2024 trying to “start over” and reinvent. If I had my act together, I actually would have preferred the starting over—to finish all my goal setting in that week between Christmas and New Years so I could start off 2024 with a plan already in mind. But instead, my procrastinating self unintentionally took the Instagram girlie route, and I ended up spending most of January reflecting on what I want to accomplish in the new year. 2023 Plans and Goal Setting

As I mentioned in my letter to 2022, I felt a little overwhelmed at the start of the year trying to decide what I want out of my 2023. I’ve spent the last several weeks thinking about it, and I’ve come to the conclusion that I like spending some of January planning out my new year—as opposed to trying to have it all figured out in December. I’ve found that waiting to set my goals until the middle of the month actually eliminated some of the unhealthy expectations and resolutions I might have otherwise set on January 1st… I know I can’t hope to achieve any “do this every day” goals when January is already almost over, ha! A Letter to 2022

I find myself feeling overwhelmed today. Suddenly it is a new year, and I don’t even know where to begin in deciding what I want out of 2023. It’s so unlike me, to have not already brainstormed a lengthy list of habits and goals that feel so promising yet probably won’t be achieved. It’s my MO—I’m very talented at dreaming but oftentimes less-so at doing. I reread my 2022 Plans and Goal Setting blog post, as well as last year’s recap… I laughed at some of the goals I set and completely forgot about. I felt a tinge of surprise and pride when I realized what goals I did accomplish. And I found myself wondering, have I outgrown the “awards-style” blog post I’ve published on past New Year’s Eves? What else did I outgrow in 2022?
