As I may have mentioned a time or two before on the blog, I try my best to lay out my outfits on the weekends during the school year. I have a few shelves in my closet labeled with the days of the week, and last Christmas my mother even bought me these little plastic strips to connect hangers (like you see in the stores, so you can attach whole outfits) as well as days of the week clips for the head of each hanger. While that may be a bit extreme—although super fun for my inner OCD—there are still plenty of ways you can and should plan your weekly outfits. So this school year, buck up, take the bull by the horns, and spend a little quality time in your closet each weekend to save you a lot of time during the week. Grieving Someone Who’s Still Alive

I’ve always associated grief with those who have died—a kind of sickening permanence knowing you will never see a person again, share a laugh, or breathe the same air. But I never considered the different kind of heartache that comes with mourning the loss of a living person. Like someone very close to you who moved across the country and “got too busy” to stay in touch. Or a best friend for years who changed so much you didn’t recognize her anymore. Or a romantic significant other with broken hearts on either side, or the worse fate of breaking up while still in love, out of necessity (perhaps the one downside of college). Easy, Breezy, Beautiful, Makeover

I’ve always loved the month of August for one reason: the allure of a back-to-school makeover. Whether on a show like “What Not to Wear” or YouTube videos of drastic bedroom redecorating, I enjoy seeing the magic of change and the fruit of forethought brought to fruition. There’s always something so refreshing about “reinventing” yourself or your look to start a new stage in your life (school year or otherwise). While I’ve never had a transformation quite as fantastic as Mia’s in The Princess Diaries, I do give myself a little makeover near the middle of each August not only to make myself feel the most beautiful and confident, but also to have something to look forward to when school may otherwise be…a dread.
