The 50th weekly recap of the year! I can’t believe we’re already so close to the end of 2023. Even though I’ve had Christmas decorations up for weeks and have been listening to Christmas music on the radio, it doesn’t quite feel like the holidays yet. I think I might bake and decorate some Christmas cookies this afternoon, so hopefully that helps me feel more festive!

It was a busy work-from-home day—I forced myself to get dressed but just in this sweatshirt and jeans. Some girls are really good at putting together cute lounge/I didn’t even try outfits, but I don’t think that’s one of my strong suits.

It was coldddd most of this week and very overcast, which is so unlike Denver! As if it wasn’t already difficult enough to stay focused right before the holidays, the dreariness really made for an unproductive mood in the office. This isn’t a very cute outfit, but I have such a hard time putting together stylish things when I wake up feeling cold. I always just reach for what’s comfiest and warmest on those days.

I was feeling lazy with my outfit so just a simple sweater and jeans today—I love the purple and beige together. I think these pants would pair better with high heeled booties, since they’re so long, but I wasn’t in the mood to style uncomfortable footwear.

After work, a couple coworkers and I went to a nearby wine bar for happy hour. It was so much fun to chitchat outside of the office and get to know one another beyond work life. We stayed for three hours! Afterwards, I went to my friend’s apartment for a girls night, which was also a blast.

I like this grey turtleneck because it’s one of the few non-sweater long sleeve tops I own, but it has a silly tie-front which I hate (that’s how old it is—remember when everything came with a little tie at the hem?). I wore it tucked in today, but the extra fabric creates unflattering bunching in my jeans. I’m thinking it might be time to just give the top away.

Grey Turtleneck: Bohme, $30 ($1.25 per wear), last worn here | Black Pleather Jacket: JCPenney, $62 ($0.86 per wear), last worn here | Jeans: JCPenney, $40 ($0.89 per wear), last worn here | Black Booties: DSW, $45 ($0.58 per wear), last worn here

It was a chill work-from-home day before my boyfriend and I went to a friend’s house for karaoke, which was so much fun! He decked out his basement with huge speakers, lounge chairs, and colorful lights. I don’t think I would ever pay to rent a karaoke room (the fun of going out for karaoke is singing on stage in front of a bunch of strangers, in my opinion), but singing at the top of your lungs in a friend’s basement for free is a great way to test out any songs you might want to perform out in the wild.

All of my jeans were dirty so I had to get a little creative with my outfit—I pulled out these lace-up pants that I haven’t worn in forever. I don’t like these boots with the ‘fit, but I was in a rush to get out the door. I’m not sure what shoes would look better.

To help get into the Christmas spirit, I took my boyfriend to two different Christmas markets in downtown Denver—and both were a complete bust! The first was the Mistletoe Market in the Dairy Block, which I had never been to before. It was hardly a market and only had a few stands. Certainly not worth the hassle of finding and paying for parking downtown.

The second was the Christkindlmarket in Civic Center Park. We went last year and had fun, but today it was just way too crowded to be enjoyable. We got one drink and shortly thereafter wrestled our way out of the park. Bummer. But at least I looked cute! I’ve never worn this outfit before, and this was the first time I whipped out my cobalt blue peacoat this season. It’s gotten a little tight in the shoulders, but I don’t think I can bring myself to get rid of it yet.

White Sweater: Bohme, $30 ($2.31 per wear), last worn here | Blue Peacoat: Francesca’s, $40 ($1.67 per wear), last worn here | Skirt: Nordstrom Rack, $27 ($.180 per wear), last worn here | Tights: Primark, $5 ($0.83 per wear), last worn here | Black Knee Boots: Clarks via DSW, $100 ($0.76 per wear), last worn here

Sunday, December 17

I spent most of the day making Reels so I never really got dressed. For only 30 seconds of watch-time, the videos sure take long to make!

. . . . .

Which of this week’s outfits is your favorite? Any fun plans for the week ahead? I’ll be heading to Palm Springs on Wednesday to meet up with my family for the holidays! I can’t wait to see everyone and explore—I’ve never been there before.

Miles of smiles,

Grace
