I’m coming at ya’ a day later than usual because I have been having such a fun long weekend with my parents! I took today off from work, and we spent the last few days exploring Colorado Springs and its surrounding areas. I need to start breaking out all my winter accessories (hats, gloves, scarves) because it has been quite chilly the past few days—Denver even got its first proper snow flurry last Thursday. I think it’s time I finally admit it… I really don’t like winter.

After a chill day at work, I raced over to the University of Denver’s campus to give a presentation about my study abroad experience to one of the classes. I then made my way over to my aunt’s house so we could pass out candy together to all the trick-or-treaters! By far the coolest thing we saw was a full-grown man dressed as a pirate, who had decked out his onewheel to look like a haunted pirate ship—he was racing around the neighborhood, playing spooky music, and it looked like his ship was hovering above the asphalt… so fun.

I completely forgot it was Halloween today, otherwise I would have put more effort into a thematic outfit. I did love this look, though! But sadly my sweater shrunk in my boyfriend’s washing machine. I have been having such a hard time with laundry since I moved back to Denver… My in-unit machine doesn’t really work and has already ruined a handful of pieces, so I started washing more delicate things at the boy’s place instead. Except, his washing machine gets super hot, even though I wash everything on cold, so I think that’s how this sweater shrunk. So many clothing casualties lately! Absolutely devastating.

It was another rather relaxed day at work, followed by an evening of scary movies with my boyfriend (since we never had a chance to watch any before Halloween). I thought today’s outfit was cute—very similar to this one I wore in Scotland—and I got a few compliments on my pink fuzzy knee socks.

Today was a much busier day at work, and then the boy came over so I could show him Promising Young Woman, one of the best yet most uncomfortable movies I’ve seen. Today’s look was very similar to yesterday’s, another sweater-skirt combo. I definitely should have steamed my sweater, though. It’s hard to see in this pic, but aren’t my pom pom knee socks super cute? I have quite the collection of decorative boot stockings…

My boyfriend and I got our flu shots and had an impromptu dinner date after work, during the first snow flurry of the season (I think it snowed three inches). We also stopped on our way home to grab eggnog! I decided I am going to be one of “those people” this year and start getting into the Christmas-y mood before Thanksgiving… Otherwise, I fear the holiday season will come and go before I even realize it.

In other news, I’m not sure how I feel about today’s outfit. These high-wasted, pinstripe trousers were a hand-me-down that I have been dying to wear. I thought the blue of the stripes would pair really nicely with the blue in this sweater, but I would have preferred the sweater cropped/tucked in. I tried tucking it in, but as you could imagine, it was way too bulky and looked ridiculous under the pants. I could have done the cropping trick of tucking the sweater up and under my bra, but I think that’s so impractical and uncomfortable… so I just let it hang. The proportions of the outfit aren’t amazing but I still really love these pants.

Friday, November 4

I was one of two people who went into the office today! After work, I rushed over to my aunt’s house to get ready together for the Bridgerton Ball. It was SUCH a fun night and I absolutely loved dressing up! We spent a few hours getting ready, an hour and a half getting dinner, and then a few hours at the ball. I didn’t get to bed until 1:00 am. Truly a magical evening, and I plan on sharing lots more in a blog post (hopefully sometime this week).

I woke up much earlier than I would have preferred so I could meet my dad at the airport! We spent a couple of hours there catching up and waiting for my mom to arrive on a different flight. We stopped at a new-to-me gluten-free bakery in town and went absolutely nuts over all the goodies—cinnamon rolls, so many donuts, Danishes, etc. From there, we drove to Colorado Springs! We wandered around Garden of the Gods, shopped at the trading post, and got happy hour drinks at our hotel. We grabbed a nice dinner, and I spent the rest of the evening finishing my book. How cute is this lil’ fall outfit?

Sunday, November 6

We started our morning by driving a little more than an hour to the Royal Gorge Bridge and Park—the bridge used to be the tallest in the world until 2001, and it is still the tallest suspension bridge in the U.S. We had a great time walking across the bridge, taking in the breathtaking views of the gorge and Arkansas River below, riding a carousel, learning the area’s history, and taking a gondola back over the gorge. Definitely not a park for those scared of heights!

Afterwards, we went to a nearby dinosaur exhibit with fossils, lots of history of the dinosaurs that use to roam Colorado, and a dinosaur park where you could walk past animatronic dinos and learn about them. There was also a ropes course next to a giant T-rex! It was my first ropes course and a lot scarier than I thought it would be—I’m glad I did it, but I can’t say if I actually enjoyed it, ha! Afterwards, we made our way back to Colorado Springs and did another hotel happy hour before grabbing a casual dinner.

. . . . .

Even though I’m excited for work tomorrow because I have a lot of projects to work on, I am simultaneously feeling some major Sunday Scaries—even though it’s not even Sunday. It’s always hard going back after such a fun (and long) weekend. Anyway, thanks for stopping by the blog today, and let me know which of this week’s outfits is your favorite.

Miles of smiles,
Grace
