4 Outfits for the 4th of July (Part 1)

Good morning! I realized last night (well, this morning) at 12:30 A.M. that I completely forgot to write this blog post! Generally when I miss a post, it’s because I didn’t have pictures or internet connection. But today? I just completely forgot, so that’s why this post is late. Ok now, with the 4th of July right around the corner, I figured it was time to start providing a little outfit inspo. For today’s post up until Friday’s post of next week, I will share an outfit that would work for the patriotic holiday. My hope is that the outfits are different enough and for different occasions that everyone can find something she likes!

Where to Wear: I wore this outfit last week when it was super hot out, and I spent the day crafting inside and lounging by the pool. For the 4th of July though, this outfit would be great if you’re planning to go boating, watch the fireworks from a beach/lake, or spend the day by the pool, like me. It’s just such a summery look! I also consider this outfit perfect for anyone who doesn’t like the color red. It’s still very patriotic, but the subtle red details in the nail polish and flower on the hat are all this outfit needs to complete the look.

I used to spend a lot of time finding links to items that are similar to those that I wear so that you could shop for an outfit like mine. Maybe you’ve noticed, but I haven’t been doing this anymore these last few weeks. It took so much time and people didn’t click on the links that often, but more importantly, I’ve realized that providing tons of shopping links kind of goes against what I stand for in this blog. My goal is to provide you with outfit inspiration and ways to reuse the items already in your closet, so why would I provide links to encourage you to just buy new clothes all the time? That’s why, from this point on, I will write a “Shop Your Closet” section instead of providing links (unless I have an exact item that is still in stock, which doesn’t happen very often). In this section, I’ll give you a list of items, patterns, or colors that you should look for in your own closet to try to recreate a similar look. I hope you like this new bit and that you’ll be able to create more outfits from your own closet because of it.

Shop Your Closet: Here we go, the first time I’m doing this! For the hat, look for any sunhats, panama hats, floppy hats, straw hats, or even headbands in red/white/blue to recreate the summery vibe. For the dress, look for anything you have that’s striped. Tank tops, t-shirts, and black and white striped t-shirt dresses would also work. Don’t get too hung up on the colors: I love a black and white outfit for the 4th because you can accessorize with color. Don’t have navy blue? Look at other shades, like turquoise, or look for dark shades of pink instead of red. I paired my outfit with beige accessories, so look for brown sandals, bags, or anything straw related (I borrowed this purse from my mom, who hasn’t used it in years, but it’s totally in style right now). For the accessories, be sure to consider sunglasses, jewelry, and nail polish to get all the red, white, and blue you can muster.

That’s it for Look 1 if this 4th of July miniseries! What do you think? Do you already have an outfit planned for the day? I would love to hear about it in the comments. 🙂

Miles of smiles,

Grace
