As I’ve mentioned in a few blog posts, my dad turned the big 6-0 a week before Christmas, so his birthday wish was for all of us to spend the holidays together somewhere sunny and warm. He decided on Palm Springs, California, for a variety reasons—we’d never been there together as a family, the weather is typically good in December, and it was a relatively easy/not too expensive flight for all of us to get there, since my two brothers and I all live in different states.
