The big exciting thing to report this week is that my pregnant coworker asked me to help her with the surprise of her baby’s sex! She wanted someone on the outside to do it so that everyone in her family could be surprised, and she knows how much I love to party plan and whatnot. She gave me the envelope that revealed the sex, and I was tasked with purchasing a plastic baseball that explodes with either pink or blue powder. It was so special to be a small part of this exciting moment! I was also so nervous I would mess it up somehow or let it slip—I had to avoid her at the office all week, ha!

I had a very productive day at work followed by a lot of content creation (since I didn’t quite get all my Reels for the week made over the weekend). I love how these dark grey bootcut jeans look with the grey cropped sweater for a monochrome look, and the black dangly earrings are the perfect accessory (even though the clip-on part kills my earlobes).

I didn’t feel great this morning so I just threw on the easiest thing possible—a sweater and jeans. If you saw my Closet Wrapped TikTok, where I share what I bought and which items I wore most in 2023, you heard me talk about how I don’t wear my accessories nearly often enough… hence the big yellow scarf, on which I got several compliments.

Sweater: Francesca’s, $45 ($1.67 per wear), last worn here | Jeans: JCPenney, $40 ($0.85 per wear), last worn here | Booties: Shop LC, gifted for collaboration, $80 ($3.20 per wear), last worn here | Yellow Scarf: Unknown, $20 ($0.69 per wear), last worn here

Wednesday, February 7

After work today, I met up with my old professor for dinner to catch up before heading over to regular Wednesday night trivia. I was so tired and cranky though—I hardly slept last night because I had stress dreams about accidentally spoiling the baby surprise for my coworker, ha!

Purple Sweater: Hand-me-down, last worn here | Navy Gingham Vest: JCrew, $50 ($3.13 per wear), last worn here | Black Jeans: Express, $42 ($0.81 per wear), last worn here | Sneakers: Thrifted Steve Madden, $20 ($2.22 per wear), last worn here

Today’s sweater and jeans combo was pretty boring on its own, so I added my cowgirl boots and an embroidered pink and green headband to spice it up. I love how it turned out! Still a rather plain outfit but the accessories really made it.

Sweater: JCPenney, $18 ($0.29 per wear), last worn here | Skinny Jeans: Express, $42 ($0.55 per wear), last worn here | Cowgirl Boots: Ariat via Boot Barn, $180 ($15.00), last worn here | Headband: Gift

It was supposed to blizzard all day Saturday so I ended up moving both my hair appointment and dinner reservations with my boyfriend to today instead (of course, it didn’t end up being bad on Saturday at all, so I could have kept my original plans). I tried a new hair salon because the lady was so rude to me at the last place I went. Thankfully, today was a much better experience. My hairdresser was very friendly and she offered some really great suggestions for what to do with my hair, since I wasn’t entirely sure what I wanted. I ended up getting curtain bangs and am absolutely obsessed!! I think they suit me so well—I was prancing around the apartment the rest of the afternoon because I felt like a movie star.

Grey Sweatshirt: Dillard’s, $30 ($2.00 per wear) | Cropped Flared Jeans: Express, $40 ($0.63 per wear), last worn here | Black Booties: Vivaia, gifted for collaboration, $140 ($2.64 per wear), last worn here

Friday, February 9, Continued

I wanted to get my hair done on the same day as date night so I didn’t have to curl it myself. We decided to celebrate Valentine’s Day early at a new-to-us steakhouse since I’m going to be leaving for Puerto Rico on the real holiday. I really wanted to wear this red fringe dress, but it’s been in my dirty clothes hamper since September 2022 (omg!) and I completely forgot to wash it in time for it to dry. Instead, I opted for this fun red sequin jacket with an otherwise all-black ensemble.

Black Blouse: Dillard’s, $20 ($0.80 per wear), last worn here | Red Sequin Jacket: White House Black Market, $100 ($50 per wear), last worn here | Black Leather Skirt: Scout and Molly Boutique, $105 ($6.56 per wear), last worn here | Tights: Primark, $5 ($0.71 per wear), last worn here | Black Booties: Vivaia, gifted for collaboration, $140 ($2.64 per wear), last worn here | Black Purse: Thrifted, $6 ($1.20 per wear), last worn here

Saturday, February 10

After a big grocery run with every other Super Bowl party host, I spent most of the day making Reels and TikToks for the upcoming week. This outfit is pretty much the same as yesterday’s aside from a different sweatshirt.

Tie-Dye Sweatshirt: American Eagle, $18 ($0.78 per wear) | Cropped Flared Jeans: Express, $40 ($0.63 per wear), last worn here | Black Booties: Vivaia, gifted by brand, $140 ($2.69 per wear), last worn here

Sunday, February 11

I spent most of the morning cooking and prepping for the Super Bowl party my boyfriend and I hosted in the afternoon! Everyone loved the food, and we had a great time throwing the football around. We were all disappointed the Chiefs won, but at least it was an exciting game… We also made a drinking game out of it by taking a swig anytime Taylor Swift was shown on screen. As you can imagine, we had to take smaller and smaller sips to not be waisted by the end…

Floral Top: Nordstrom Rack, $20 ($0.65 per wear), last worn here | Grey Jeans: Express, $24 ($4.00 per wear) | Black Booties: Vivaia, gifted by brand, $140 ($2.64 per wear), last worn here

. . . . .

Which of this week’s outfits is your favorite? I’m excited for next week’s weekly recap as it will be full of colorful vacation looks! Can’t believe my trip to Puerto Rico starts Wednesday. I have lots to get done between now and when I leave, but I can’t wait!

Miles of smiles,

Grace

  1. Your date night look is so pretty! Hubby and I have a 24 hour date in a couple of weeks so I need to figure out what we are going to do. Scaling down from our original idea (the Waldorf in Buckhead) since I want to save the hotel points for our summer vacay we just booked. So it will be a day+night day on a budget.
