Weekly Recap #29, 2023

I have so few outfits to share this week! It’s a good thing I don’t work from home full-time or else I would never get dressed… I ended up going into the office from Monday to Wednesday instead of my usual Tuesday to Thursday, which really threw me off. But walking tours and baby showers made it a fun week at work, topped off with the Barbenheimer double feature on Saturday. She’s having the best day!

Monday, July 17

Instead of working from home today, one of my coworkers scheduled a walking tour for us to learn about the Auraria campus in downtown Denver, which is home to three schools (University of Colorado Denver, Metropolitan State University, and Community College of Denver). A whole community, mainly comprised of Hispanic families, was displaced in order to build the campus in the 1970s. It was a very interesting yet sad history that my coworkers and I were all surprised to learn about. Some of the original buildings still remain, including a row of historic homes from the 1800s and St. Cajetan’s church, which was a hub in the neighborhood and is pictured at the beginning of today’s post.

Normally I would wear a skirt on such a hot day (it was in the mid-90s!) but since I am in the middle of laser hair removal treatments on my lower legs, I am supposed to minimize sun exposure for the two weeks before and after each session—hence the yellow pants. This isn’t the cutest outfit ever but it served its purpose of keeping my legs protected.

Tuesday, July 18

Another scorcher today so I threw on this striped Cabi skirt and a teal mock-neck top. This outfit is much cuter without the black denim jacket, but I needed something to keep me warm in the over-air-conditioned office.

Wednesday, July 19

It was a very busy day at work with lots of back-to-back meetings. But at lunch time, we all brought in an ingredient to make a taco bar and threw a surprise baby shower for my pregnant coworker. I expected just to eat our tacos and give her a gift or two, but it was a full-on party! Complete with decorations, cupcakes, and baby-themed games (a word unscramble featuring only baby words and Pictionary where the prompts were children’s books). It was so much fun and made me excited for any future baby showers!

I’ve never worn this green cardigan with this dress before, but I actually liked the pairing. I also wore it with a little metal shell necklace that I got forever ago as a souvenir on a trip to California. I have so much jewelry but always end up wearing the same pieces every day… so I’m trying to be better about mixing it up.

It was a productive work-from-home day but I never changed out of workout clothes since I didn’t have any meetings, tsk tsk.

Friday, July 21

Another day where I didn’t get dressed! I also took my phone into the shop to get a new front and rear camera installed. I thought it had fixed the problem (finally) but after taking blog photos earlier today, it still won’t focus… So I will have to submit a warranty claim and hopefully they’ll replace the whole damn phone. Ugh.

Saturday, July 22

The big Barbenheimer day! I spent the morning rushing to film a Barbie reel so I could post it before the movie, but I didn’t end up finishing on time. My boyfriend and I dressed up together in matching thrifted rollerblading outfits, like Barbie and Ken wear in the film, which I’ll be sharing in a blog post this week (today’s pic is just a sneak peak). It was a long day at the theater (Oppenheimer is three hours and Barbie is two) but I had a lot of fun nonetheless.

Sunday, July 23

I had a very lazy morning before lounging poolside in the afternoon. I always want to share my swimsuits—today’s Cupshe bikini was super cute—but I feel so awkward taking photos in so little clothing! It’s hard to find a flattering angle and then just feels like showing off. Maybe I’ll get more comfortable with it eventually.
