Oscar Style at Home: Three Looks from the Runway to Your Front Door

purple mauve tulle Jenny Yoo dress

Okay so I didn’t get invited to the Academy Awards this year…But it’s fine, it’s whatever. There’s always next year, right?! I did watch the awards show briefly, but I only really care about the fashion. And let me say…I was rather disappointed with the red carpet gowns this year. There were a lot of dresses that had potential but ended up falling short. For example, I loved the texture and color of Emma Stone’s gown, but I just couldn’t get on board with the crazy shoulders. Then there was a collection of just completely unflattering looks! Nonetheless, I picked three of my favorites and rounded up similar dresses for you to shop, so you can bring the runway to your front door. Every day should be a fashion show, and the world is your red carpet! (Totally cheesy, but I still love it.) Most of the dresses are cocktail dresses so you can wear them for normal-people special occasions because, unfortunately, not all of us have black-tie events to attend. So get out your cute wallets and happy shopping! Continue reading “Oscar Style at Home: Three Looks from the Runway to Your Front Door”

5 Formal Wear Looks

black beaded gown, silver block heels

I’m so excited for today’s blog post! I spent last night surfing the web for the prettiest (and most reasonably priced) formal dresses for your next big occasion…as well as shoes, accessories, and clutches to come in clutch (as the kids say). I really love how all these looks turned out, and even though I may not have a formal event coming up any time soon—sad day—I do know lots of you have prom to look forward to! I don’t miss high school, but I would be lying if I said I didn’t miss homecoming and prom. So whether you have an auction, dance, sorority formal, or other event that requires dressing up, I’ve got you covered! Literally, because going naked might be too much of a statement. As you may remember, I shared a blog post less than a month ago about my prom outfit, including a gorgeous mauve colored tulle dress, elegant make-up, a curly up-do, and silver accessories. I also mentioned my “dress debacle” although I did not disclose the full story. That’s the purpose of today’s post, as well as sharing my first experience with a tailor.
