It’s time for another Thrifty Six collaboration, and this month’s theme, chosen by Nancy, is a little out of the ordinary… “We’re not angry birds!” While I was initially taken aback by this fun and unique theme, I quickly thought of this teal faux fur jacket that I thrifted while in Scotland. Sure, it’s not feathers, but faux fur was the next closest thing in my closet. And the pretty color reminded me of the beautiful plumage of a peacock! When I told my boyfriend about the theme, though, he reminded me that we are *not* angry birds… so then really, based off the once-popular game, that means I should’ve dressed up as a green pig, ha! Today marks the last day of this year’s “virtual” Fall Fashion Week in New York City. As I understand it, 2020’s NYFW started September 13th and has included a mix of virtual shows and even a few in-person runway events with very limited audiences. I’ve never been one to actually “follow” fashion (and clearly I don’t keep up with that many trends), but I’ve still always dreamed of attending fashion week. But nonetheless, I still hope to go someday! So, in celebration of this fashion-filled month, I decided to round-up a post of my fashion-related bucket list items. Maybe I can’t do them just yet, but someday soon I’ll be back in the world and struttin’ my stuff! Continue reading “My Fashion Bucket List”
A few weeks ago, my mom forwarded me an email with the message, “You should give this a try.” As I scrolled through the images of the email to see what she was referring to, I realized it was a model casting call for Denver Fashion Week. You may recall that I wrote about my experience seeing a show at Denver Fashion Week last November, including how weird most of the clothing was and how strangely some of the models walked. Given the no-cost, low-stakes opportunity to finally launch my modeling career (rich with sarcasm), I figured, why the heck wouldn’t I try out? So I found a friend to go with me and we signed up to walk the runway at the casting call on March 1st. Continue reading “Didn’t Even Make the Casting Call”
