El Camino de Santiago: One Year Later

Spanish sunrise, pilgrimage, Camino de Santiago

One year ago today my brother and I were hiking 18.32 miles from Villafranca de Bierzo to Laguna del Castilla in Spain. 43,336 steps, give or take. We started early in the morning, before sunrise, with lights strapped to our heads as we walked along the Spanish highway through the pouring rain. It remained raining most of the day, as we passed through several villages and fellow pilgrims passed us. At one point we heard a very loud and unrecognizable noise above the sound of the rainfall, only to realize it was a honking donkey strutting by. And I can only imagine that at some point during our walk, my brother and I got into a spat about something silly, like that he was talking too much or that he ate more than his fair share of tortilla. After a slippery incline at the end of the cold, fall-like day, we finally arrived at our tiny town—no more than a single hostel and a restaurant—before settling in for the night, watching the movie Twister in Spanish as it played on the restaurant’s TV. A follower recently responded to one of my question boxes on Instagram Stories with the suggestion of doing a “raiding my mother’s closet” type blog post. I even picked up a few hand-me-downs during the process… Isn’t that just the best? Anyway, today’s post is dedicated to my amazing mom and her incredible style! Mask Fashion: Summer Edition

I’ve had this post idea for a while, and after a few requests and seeing several other fashion bloggers do the same sort of thing, I’m finally delivering my take on mask fashion! To be honest, I basically never leave the house as it is—going to the dentist has been one of the highlights of my summer thus far. However, when I do venture out, I don’t bother to match my mask to my outfit, just as long as I’m wearing one. But as a fashion blogger? This seems unacceptable. Masks aren’t going away any time soon, so we might as well make them fashionable and consider them as “the hottest new accessory”, especially when so many stores are releasing cute styles (like Dress Barn, Francesca’s, and Nordstrom Rack). I was so excited to create these three outfits around my three masks! Continue reading “Mask Fashion: Summer Edition”
