5 Non-Cliché Things I Learned My First Year of College

college lessons, road trip, unpacking, college

Well folks, I finally finished my freshman year of college (and am back to blogging). I know I’m a little late to the party, what with the quarter system and all—I mean, my friends have been on summer vacation since early May! But we’ll see who’s complaining in August when they all have to go back to school and I don’t ‘til mid-September, hehe. Sure, there’s the stereotype of students looking like slobs and never changing out of their sweats or leggings. But below I outline some rather unexpected, never-mentioned changes that have me itching to revamp my closet. If only the “poor college student” were just a stereotype too… Continue reading “How Fashion Changes in College”

Over the summer, and for years prior (since the sixth grade) that I’ve been looking forward to attending college, I always dreamt of the fun activities in which I’d participate, the interesting people I’d meet, and the endless opportunities of higher learning. While I have come to realize all of those expectations, I never stopped to consider the hardships I might face—most notably, homesickness. So far college has proven to be everything I ever imagined. But all of sudden? This week has hit me hard with an insatiable longing for home, and I’m sure I’m not the only one. While nothing will fully satisfy that desire until an actual return a la casa, most likely for Thanksgiving, here are a few tips to manage the yearning until that time comes.
