My busy travel weeks have finally come to an end, and I’m very excited to stay in one place for the foreseeable future. On Wednesday, I visited my fifth new state in a week—woohoo! That puts my total count at 33, so I still have 17 to go before accomplishing my goal of visiting every state (mostly in the south and on the east coast). I’m looking forward to spending the next couple of weeks relaxing and soaking up what’s left of the fall leaves here in Denver.

Today was the last day of my east coast trip with my mom. We started the week at our cute bed and breakfast in the Brandywine Valley in Pennsylvania before making our way back to Philly to get our required cheesesteaks. Our flight wasn’t until nearly 7pm, so I didn’t get home ‘til late.

I somehow managed to drag myself into the office today for my one day back at work between my vacation and conference. It was go-go-go to get all my laundry done and to unpack then repack before leaving again. I ended up spending the night at my aunt’s house, which is much closer to the airport, so I could avoid some of the rush hour traffic on Wednesday.
I’m not sure I love this dress with these boots. I used to have a different pair of taupe suede booties from Steve Madden that I wore so much I finally had to throw them away. Those looked great paired with this dress, but I think the higher shaft height of these new boots looks a little awkward with the bare legs.

I love this outfit and will definitely be wearing it again! I think the juxtaposition of the girly polka dots and the edgy jacket is really stylish. It would look super cute with a bold a red lip to match my extremely comfy red Rothy’s. I noticed at least 10 other women also wearing Rothy’s at the conference! They know what’s up.
My flight was at 9am this morning so I went straight to the airport once I woke up. It was a two and a half hour flight to Indianapolis (and a two hour time gain) so I arrived just in time to Uber to the conference hotel and catch the opening session. The conference was the event of the year for my field of work, evaluation. I used my professional development funds to go and I had one coworker there with me.

I attended a lot of sessions today so I wanted to dress a little more professionally, with this grey pleather-trim blazer and my black slacks from Clara Sunwoo. My goal while packing for this trip was to put together outfits that were professional enough for a conference but also casual/comfy enough to wear while exploring the city. This outfit is the most corporate one that I brought, but I think the other looks I packed were the perfect mix of what I was going for.
During the lunch break I walked around the city a bit, checking out the capitol building, the Soldiers and Sailors monument (the circle that makes Indy known as “Circle City”), and the old City Market. In the evening I just ate leftovers in my room and flew through the rest of my book, Every Vow You Break by Peter Swanson.

Another really cute outfit! It’s actually rare for me to love this many outfits in one week (not every look can be a winner). I had several more sessions today and wandered around White River State Park on my lunch break. In the evening, I went to see Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein at the Indiana Repertory Theatre. It was so good! I really liked it because it wasn’t just the story in the book; it included much of the life of Mary Shelley, which was an interesting and refreshing twist. I actually first learned about her tragic life last year at a Frankenstein-themed museum in Bath, England, where she spent several years.

I went to two final sessions today and then made my way to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum, where the Indy 500 takes place! This was the main thing I wanted to do while in the city, and it was very cool. The museum is filled with racecars from throughout the years, and I paid a little extra to take a bus around the track! I even got to kiss the infamous bricks at the finish line (first pic in today’s post), which is what the winners do.
Afterwards, I got an Uber to the airport and killed several hours at the bar, as my flight wasn’t until 4:30 and I had nothing else on my must-see list (plus I had my luggage). It was a quick and easy flight home, and then I called it a very early night!

Sunday, October 15
As you might have expected, today was a lazy day around the house—unpacking, napping, doing laundry, etc. It was a beautiful fall day so I did at least sneak out for a quick walk.

Which of this week’s outfits is your favorite? Lots of very cute work ‘fits, if I do say so myself! I would love to photograph some of these for a real blog post at some point. As always, thanks for stopping by.
Miles of smiles,
