Labor Day has passed, football season has started, and there’s a new briskness in the air—fall has finally arrived. Usually I would be overjoyed by the change in seasons but I’m feeling a little apprehensive to let go of summer this year… I know I have to get excited about autumn though because if I don’t soon, it will come and go before I know it! No sweaters in this week’s recap but I’m sure my outfits will be full of plaid, knee socks, and booties soon enough.

I spent the day off finishing reading Gone Girl before my boyfriend and I watched the movie in the evening. I think this green sweater tank is super cute (especially as a summer-to-fall transitional piece) but I don’t wear it as much as I should because I never have the right bra for it. I’m wearing a nude bralette here, but for whatever annoying reason most bralettes have a racerback style—so you can see the straps and back of the bra peeping out from under my shirt. Not my favorite look.

I had a very productive day planning some upcoming trips (I have two conferences for work, a weekend getaway with my boyfriend, and a vacation with my mom on the horizon) but stayed up way too late as result—my sleep schedule has been so messed up lately.

I wouldn’t normally wear these red snakeskin sandals with this brown chevron dress (I think they clash), but my heels had some healing blisters that I wanted to “air out” so to speak. These shoes are the only pair I have that don’t have any heels/straps around the ankles so they were perfect for the job.

Brown Chevron Dress: Charming Charlie, $40 ($1.60 per wear), last worn here | Red Snakeskin Sandals: DSW, $30 ($2.31 per wear), last worn here

I’m not sure how I feel about this outfit. I wanted to wear a blazer with my houndstooth trousers, but none of mine really go with the pants (I don’t have a plain black blazer). I opted for my pleather racer jacket instead, but does the edgy piece look weird with the otherwise workwear outfit? I don’t know. I would have worn a long sleeve top with these pants but I realized my closet is severely lacking in simple long sleeve blouses—I don’t really have any fall pieces to pair with my printed pants. Guess I’ll have to change that!

Red Top: JCPenney, $18 ($0.47 per wear), last worn here | Black Pleather Jacket: JCPenney, $62 ($0.93 per wear), last worn here | Houndstooth Pants: JCPenney, $19 ($0.86 per wear), last worn here | Red Flats: Rothy’s, $100 ($9.09 per wear)

My mom saw this dress on sale for $5 when I was in high school and bought it for me, even though it’s several sizes too big. It has really cute bell sleeves and is a great transitional dress because of the dark colors yet light fabric. Usually I belt it to add more shape, but I decided today to wear it loose as a sort of flowy boho dress, which seems to be in style at the moment. I can’t decide if it’s cute that way or if it just looks like I’m drowning in fabric.

After work, I had such an itch to go shopping that I walked to a nearby TJMaxx. They had so many cute fall sweaters, but I decided to limit myself to just two summery/going out dresses perfect for my upcoming trip to Las Vegas. But if I keep thinking about those sweaters, I think I might have to go back…

I really love how today’s outfit turned out and snuck away in the afternoon to shoot some real pics in it—my stupid phone still won’t focus though, even though it’s a brand new device, so clearly it’s just a terrible model. Don’t buy the Google Pixel 6! Anyway, my boyfriend and I spent the night in for once and I made us pesto chicken alfredo with strawberry goat cheese salad. Two new recipes that I’m adding to my “repeats” list!

Olive Green Bodysuit: Francesca’s, $20 ($1.33 per wear), last worn here | Denim Skirt: American Eagle, $24 ($3.00 per wear), last worn here | Brown Sandals: DSW, $19 ($0.22 per wear), last worn here | Leopard Belt: Francesca’s, $9 ($0.56 per wear), last worn here

Saturday, September 9

I spent the morning reading before my boyfriend and I met up with some friends to go golfing—my last outing of the season (and my best!). This was only my fourth or fifth time on a course ever, and I was excited to notice I’m getting more consistent with my swings. It makes me really look forward to golfing next summer. This was also the first time I wore my new red athletic dress and I absolutely love it—I want it in all the colors. You can shop this exact dress and my new golf shoes in the widget below! I don’t keep track of cost per wear for athletic clothes, but I did include where the items are from.

Red Athletic Dress: Amazon | Golf Shoes: Callaway via Dick’s Sporting Goods | White Hat: Borrowed from boyfriend

Me, publishing my Sunday weekly recap actually on Sunday? I know, it’s a brave new world. I have a couple of blog photos stocked up and I’m feeling optimistic that this upcoming week will be when I finally get back on schedule. I hope to spend today getting ahead on a few things so I can start Monday on the right foot, instead of behind like always.

I think this is a cute lounge-around-the-house outfit, yet at the same time, I look like I should be starring in an early 2000s dance video. These joggers are from American Eagle a few seasons ago and I have the matching cropped sweatshirt—such a cute and comfy set!

Grey Crop Top: Apricot Lane Boutique, $20 ($10 per wear), last worn here | Tie Dye Joggers: American Eagle, $16 ($1.60 per wear) | White Sneakers: Primark, $10 ($0.63 per wear), last worn here

. . . . .

Which of this week’s outfits is your favorite? It’s cool and overcast today so the perfect day to stay cozied up inside. One thing I’m looking forward to about fall is cooking some of my favorite cooler-weather recipes like chili and lasagna! Anyway, hope you have a great rest of your Sunday.

Miles of smiles,

Grace
