Weekly Recap #7, 2023

Boy, it’s been a weird week! I was sick Monday, celebrated Valentine’s Day on Tuesday, and had a “snow day” on Wednesday, just meaning I worked from home. It’s hard to believe the Super Bowl was only a week ago—I feel like I’ve lived two or three weeks in the last few days. And to top it all off, today my boyfriend and I are heading out on a mini getaway to a nearby hot springs resort for the long weekend (pictured above). I’m so excited!

Monday, February 13

I woke up with the most painful headache (I rarely ever get headaches) and decided to take the morning off work so I could sleep a little more. The pain lasted all day, and I’m now convinced that it’s just because I slept wrong on my neck the night before—I remember waking up in the middle of the night with a crick, and my neck remained sore all week. Anyway, since I didn’t feel great, I didn’t put on real clothes today, nor did I get hardly anything done.

Tuesday, February 14

I was so excited for today! It was the first Valentine’s Day I’ve spent with my boyfriend and the first time I’ve gone out on the holiday—of course I dressed up. For work, I wore this hot pink blazer outfit that was featured in my V-Day outfits Reel. I wanted to wear the adorable heart print scarf in my hair, but I curled my hair in the morning and didn’t want to mess it up or add any weird creases to the curls. I opted to tie the scarf as a belt instead.

In the evening, I wore this black thrifted bandage dress with fringe on the bottom, paired with my faux Valentino Rockstuds and a thrifted beaded red purse that is kind of shaped like lips. I absolutely love the outfit and felt so pretty in it! My boyfriend and I went to a nice Italian restaurant for dinner and then I showed him my favorite rom-com, The Proposal. Everything is better with Betty White.

Wednesday, February 15

I woke up to quite a few inches of snow and decided to work from home, as did several of my coworkers. It was a productive day despite not ever getting dressed!

Thursday, February 16

It may not be spring yet, but I figure if I start wearing spring colors, the weather might get better? That’s obviously how science works. I styled this lime green collared blouse with my black polka dot trousers and blue flats, which was a new combination for me. I like the look but think I would swap out the necklace for something different next time. I originally planned to wear a blue statement necklace layered under the collar, but it seemed a little uncomfortable… and I just wasn’t in the mood to be fussing about my outfit today.

Friday, February 17

I threw on this cute (albeit static-y) sweater dress for a simple Friday outfit. It was a busy and very productive day at work before my boyfriend came over to my place for dinner. I tried a new recipe—this alfredo shrimp pasta dish—and it was SO good! The BF and I both loved it, so I will definitely add it to my regular rotation of meals.

Saturday, February 18

Much like last Saturday, I spent today running around, trying to get all my to-do list items done so that I could properly relax at the hot springs. I also attempted making chocolate strawberries to take with us on our trip. I figured, how hard can it be? Just melt some of the right kind of chocolate and roll some strawberries around in it, right? Well, it turned out to be a little comical just how much of a failure the strawberries were. I haven’t tried them yet so hopefully they at least taste good…

In the evening, my girlfriends came over for a little Galentine’s get-together. We ordered food and then made and decorated heart-shaped sugar cookies, which was such a fun activity!

Sunday, February 19

Today my boyfriend and I are driving 2.5 hours to Mt. Princeton Hot Springs Resort for the evening, which I’m so excited about! We plan to spend the whole afternoon lounging in the various pools on the property.

In the evening, we have dinner reservations at the on-site steakhouse, and this is what I’m planning to wear! I didn’t want to style something too over-the-top, like a dress, so I figured it was a good excuse to try another fun piece, like this red sequin jacket. Hopefully I don’t seem too flashy since I’m a little unsure about the vibe of this place…
