It’s been a long day of travel, but it was well worth it considering I just got back from such a relaxing week in Las Vegas with my boyfriend’s family. The university that employs me decided to give us last Wednesday and Friday off, in addition to the expected Thursday, which was such a treat! It was my first holiday spent away from my own family, so I would be lying if I said I didn’t miss them a ton… But I enjoyed trying new Thanksgiving foods and traditions, as well as soaking up the much warmer desert weather. We also got in our first Christmas activity of the season—seeing lights at the Ethel M Chocolate Factory cactus garden! So fun.

Today was the first time I broke out my new red Rothys that I got for my birthday! They are just as comfy as everyone says, although I regretted wearing them in such cold weather—my feet were frozen by the time I finished my walk into the office. After work, I had a busy night of packing, cleaning my apartment, and making a pie for my cousin’s birthday. This gluten-free key lime recipe has been such a hit.

It was a slow day at work since I was so excited for the long weekend, but I made it through and headed to the airport soon after the work day ended. It was an easy flight and my boyfriend and I stayed awake late so that we could hot tub and catch up, since he had already been in Vegas for several days. This outfit isn’t anything special… It was really just a necessary look to save room in my suitcase. The tall boots were for sure a mistake though—very uncomfortable after lots of walking through the terminal. I did like the beige and olive green color combo, though.

My boyfriend still had to work today, so I spent my day off with my grandpa instead! I went to one of his job sites to run a work errand, got lunch, watched our favorite show, and then played Chinese Checkers before he dropped me back off at my boyfriend’s place. It’s very convenient that my boyfriend’s family and so much of my extended family live in the same city.
We ate dinner and then played Rummikub with my boyfriend’s parents, which was a new game for me but so much fun. Oh, and yes, I am an outfit repeater! I wore this exact look last Sunday for brunch and liked it so much that I decided to wear it again today.

My boyfriend’s uncle couldn’t get the day off work, so we decided to postpone the Thanksgiving festivities until Friday. Instead, we spent the day getting lunch with his grandpa and then hanging out around the house, hot tubbing and playing games.

Today was the real Thanksgiving. My boyfriend’s mom and I made that same key lime pie together in the morning, and then we mingled with the rest of my boyfriend’s family until feeding time in the early afternoon. So many yummy Thanksgiving dishes, and we all agreed the turkey this year was really good, even though none of us particularly like it usually.
I knew I wanted to wear this sweater because it’s loose fitting, and the warm colors seemed perfect for Turkey Day! I do think I like it with black pants better though, which I wore a few weeks ago when my parents were in town.

We slept in a bit and had a lazy day around the house, hot tubbing in the afternoon and playing a few rounds of pool. We tried to go see the Christmas lights at the Ethel M Cactus Garden but the line was insane! As for my outfit, this top and cardigan was a new combo for me—I think it turned out cute, although as I’ve complained about in the past, this cardigan sometimes lays in an unflattering way. I still love the color and style, though.

I slept exceptionally poorly last night, which you can probably tell from these photos (I had my boyfriend help me take all my OOTD pics this morning since I forgot to do them each day). A little tip for puffy eyes and under-eye bags: hold a cube of ice on them for a few minutes in the morning! It really helps to depuff them (real beauty influencers would recommend one of those jade roller type things, but ice works just as well). I did that for the photo above and there is a noticeable difference in my eye bags compared to the previous outdoor photos.
I was so tired that I took a morning nap, and then we all went to a bar in the afternoon to watch the Chargers football game, which is my boyfriend’s favorite team. We tried the cactus garden Christmas lights again tonight and thankfully the line was much more manageable. Afterwards, we faced some major Sunday Scaries and passed the time shooting pool, playing a card game called Five Crowns, and hot tubbing.
I’ve never worn this outfit before and usually consider denim skirts more of a spring/summer item, but I thought this look was really cute! Kind of a western vibe.

. . . . .
As fun and relaxing as the week was, I can’t say it was very restful in terms of sleep—I can’t wait to crash in my own bed tonight! I was already slow at work today but I think it’s just going to be one of those weeks where I am tired.
How was your holiday weekend? What’s your favorite Thanksgiving food? Of course, I love the pie, but that seems like a cop-out… I think my favorite dish this year was the stuffing!
Let me know which of these outfits is your favorite, and thanks for stopping by today.
Miles of smiles,
Grace
Monday and Sunday’s outfits are my favorites! Love that jacket and the skirt and sweater combo is really cute! Vacations can be a little tiring for sure, I was glad to be back from our beach trip but still fun nonetheless. Love that you have been able to spend time with your grandpa. I never lived close to mine so only saw them every few years since we grew up abroad.
