Well, I’d say it was a pretty successful week—knocked off lots of fall bucket list items as well as car-related chores, which are some of my least favorite. I also successfully contested a (rather unfair) parking ticket that I received several weeks ago. Clearly the county of Denver agreed that it was unwarranted because the ticket and fine are no more, woohoo! Even though “adulting” stuff like emissions testing and getting your car registered in a new state are a pain in the butt, I still love post-grad life—nothing like coming home after work and not having a pile of homework to do.

My boyfriend spends every Monday night cleaning his apartment, so I’m trying to pick up his good habits and cleaned my own place after work today. Per usual on Mondays, I threw on a simple dress and wore my brown booties for the first time this season.

I love this brown plaid dress and always get compliments when I wear it, but I never know what to layer over it. I decided to try this black jacket—it’s alright, but I still don’t think I love the look. The dress has a funky neckline (kind of a cross between a cowl and a turtle neck) so it always bunches oddly beneath coats. But otherwise, it’s such a perfect dress for fall.
Brown Plaid Dress: JCPenney, $30 ($2.50 per wear), last worn here | Black Coat: Fair trade boutique, $120 ($7.50 per wear) | Brown Booties: DSW, $35 ($0.28 per wear), last worn here

This blouse and sweater combo is probably one of the oldest pairings I have in my closet—my grandma bought them for me, along with black pants, as a cute fall outfit back in middle school. I haven’t worn the top and cardigan together in forever, so I thought I would break it out again! I ran some errands after work and then just had a chill night in my apartment.
Grey Cowl Blouse: Gift, $22 ($1.69 per wear), last worn here | Coral Cardigan: Gift, $30 ($0.91 per wear), last worn here | Skinny Jeans: JCPenney, $25 ($0.36 per wear), last worn here | Beige Booties: Sam Edelman via DSW, $70 ($0.85 per wear), last worn here

I started my day bright and early by going to the DMV before work to get a new title and registration for my car. It was a shockingly pleasant experience (which you almost never hear regarding the DMV) and made me feel so accomplished before it was even 8 o’clock in the morning! After work, my boyfriend came over and I made us chili, cornbread, and pumpkin chocolate chip cookies, which were delicious (thank goodness because I was really losing my patience while baking them—glad it wasn’t a waste, lol).
This pretty scarf belonged to my grandma, and I thought it would pair perfectly with this teal sweater. I threw on my grey pom pom sneakers for something fun! I realized everything except the pants in this outfit is secondhand. Usually I just wear one or two thrifty pieces and mix them with newer clothing, but I think it would be a fun challenge to put together a few outfits that are entirely thrifted.
Teal Sweater: Hand-me-down, last worn here | Black Skinny Jeans: Express, $42 ($1.62 per wear), last worn here | Grey Sneakers: Thrifted, $20 ($6.67 per wear), last worn here | Blue and Green Scarf: Hand-me-down

Work today was unusual and extra enjoyable because we got to volunteer at the college campus nearby! The school’s sustainability group was hosting a cleanup of Cherry Creek, which runs through downtown Denver, so three of my coworkers and I walked to the nearby greenbelt and picked up trash. I even put on a pair of waders and got into the water, which was such a blast!
After work, I put together a picnic for my boyfriend and me, which is now a fall tradition of ours (I actually made a very similar charcuterie board for our second date!). It was so much fun to watch the sun set behind the mountains and take in the gorgeous fall colors.
Olive Green Bodysuit: Francesca’s, $20 ($2.22 per wear), last worn here | Maroon Moto Jacket: BB Dakota via local boutique, $25 ($0.37 per wear), last worn here | Skinny Jeans: JCPenney, $25 ($0.35 per wear), last worn here | Leopard Rain Booties: Ralph Lauren via Macy’s, $60 ($0.90 per wear), last worn here | Green Hair Scarf: Hand-me-down, last worn here
Saturday, October 15
We had such a relaxing, fall-filled day! The boy and I got brunch, went to the pumpkin patch, wandered the corn maze while sipping our pumpkin spice lattes (basic), and then went on a double date to a haunted house/field of screams in a nearby town. I love autumn and feel like we successfully crossed off most of my fall bucket list items in one weekend.
I do think the beige booties from Wednesday’s outfit would have been cuter with today’s look, but I’m glad I opted for the leopard rain boots instead—they’re so easy to wipe clean, which was much needed after walking through the dust and dirt at both the pumpkin patch and the haunted corn maze.
Maroon Embroidered Sweater: Francesca’s, $45 ($2.14 per wear), last worn here | Skinny Jeans: JCPenney, $25 ($0.35 per wear), last worn here | Leopard Rain Booties: Ralph Lauren via Macy’s, $60 ($0.88 per wear), last worn here | Green Hair Scarf: Hand-me-down, last worn here | Beige Patent Purse: Thrifted, $9 ($1.13 per wear), last worn here

Sunday, October 16
It’s been a very lazy day, and I am most certainly suffering from the Sunday Scaries… I ate cereal for dinner and am watching “Love is Blind: After the Altar” if that’s any indication. Why do the weekends always go by so quickly?!
. . . . .
As always, thanks for stopping by the blog today. Let me know which of this week’s outfits is your favorite! Also, I’d love to hear—do you have any fun Halloween plans? Any costumes you’re excited to wear? I really hope my boyfriend and I get good pics in our couples costume because I would love to share them on the blog.
Miles of smiles,
Grace
It sounds like a great week for you. You look cute in the dresses.
