The Thrifty Six Style Jumpsuits

It was my turn to choose the theme for this month’s Thrifty Six collaboration, and I landed on jumpsuits! I chose the theme several weeks ago (I assume with a specific outfit in mind), but by the time I actually went to photograph a look last week, I had no idea what to wear… Funny, considering it was my choice. I have a handful of secondhand onesies now, from my favorite floral romper to this teal velour jumpsuit, but I ultimately landed on this shapeless scarlet number (although I can’t wait to style the velour jumpsuit with a black leather jacket come fall!).

You may recall that I already styled this jumpsuit for the monochrome-themed Thrifty Six collab a few months ago. I purchased this piece, along with secondhand orange wedges, in a panicked secondhand shopping spree while in Scotland, as I had waited last minute to photograph my outfit, yet again. I loved how I styled it last time—kind of a high fashion look with the heels and plunging neckline.

This time, I decided to dress the jumpsuit down with a denim jacket and flats for a casual late-summer outfit. I can’t get enough of the bright color—it looks like I bumped up the saturation in these photos, but that’s an accurate portrayal of this jumpsuit’s vibrancy! Because this jumpsuit is completely shapeless (a chic sack, as I like to call it), I decided to add the leopard belt for a little splash of print.

I accessorized with my go-to brown circle purse, my cheap aviator sunglasses (scratched beyond belief), and rose gold Kendra Scott jewelry, including my new clip-on earrings that my aunt got me for graduation. How cool is it that they make clip-ons?! I had no idea—pretty surprising, actually, as I imagine there isn’t a huge market for it.

I have to admit, I haven’t actually worn this jumpsuit out yet. I considered wearing it to work last week when I took the photos, but the neckline is a little too plunging for me to feel comfortable in an office setting. My favorite sticky bra from Target is also no-more, and I haven’t been able to replace it yet. In fact, this has actually been really annoying—I can’t find the bra in stock anywhere in stores, and for some reason the product isn’t eligible to ship to stores or my apartment?? What the heck is that about? I can’t wear half of my summer tops without a sticky bra, so if you have a favorite from somewhere else, let me know in the comments below. Y’all know how I feel about going braless, and the fabric of this jumpsuit unfortunately hides nothing…

I do prefer this piece with heels, since it’s that awkward midi length that cuts off my legs, but I just don’t really wear heels all that often. These brown sandals are way more practical and easy to throw on for whatever the day may hold.

In other news, these are the first real blog photos I’ve taken with my new phone, and the camera is requiring some getting used to… The jury is still out on whether or not I like it. It seems to add saturation and contrast on its own, as if automatically adding a filter, which I don’t like. I’d love to hear your thoughts on today’s pics!

Jane of Preloved-Vintage-Handmade:

“Rompers are the theme this August for the Thrifty Six… I’m romping through the enchanted forest in the magical morning light. Sunrays cast arcs in shades of neon chartreuse… I add a dreamlike ambience with my fairy bubbles. I wear my super swishy, soft and sensational slouch suit – it’s the rompiest romper I’ve ever seen!”

Shelbee of Shelbee on the Edge:

“I only have one jumpsuit in my wardrobe and thankfully it was thrifted! It’s white eyelet by Zara and I paired it with my preloved polka dot kimono in minty green with coordinating sandals and belt. My green beaded owl necklace is handmade and was gifted to me by Michelle of My Bijou Life. This is the third time I have styled this jumpsuit and it is proving to be much more versatile than I expected.”

Nancy of Nancy’s Fashion Style:

“So I had been looking for the perfect jumpsuit for a few seasons. And couldn’t find anything. And then you are “forced” to quickly find one, because Grace chose it as our theme, and then it turns out to be the perfect one! The color is beautiful, the legs are tapered and cropped, I like that, good sleeve length, the waist in the correct place. Everything about this jumpsuit is just right for me. And it’s also like new! It’s a beautiful shade of green, dark olive green, and that colour combines so perfectly with pink. But I could not resist adding a bit of gold too! Thanks Grace! Because I wouldn’t have bought this one without you!”

Lucy of Lucy Beroldi:

“You all know how animal print is always my print of preference – so how could I resist this cutest of jumpsuits? I purchased it from La Retro Girl Vintage who has some of the best vintage collections ever. I love the sailor back collar with the sweet fringe detail. But what I think I love most is how ample and freeing this style is!”

Emma of Style Splash:

“I found this jumpsuit in a charity shop a while back for only £6! It fits perfectly and is so comfortable. I’ve featured it on the blog a couple of times before… well, repeating outfits is thrifty after all! For a bold colour contrast I’ve teamed it with a green vegan leather bag and jacket, plus a green bangle that I also bought in a charity shop.”

. . . . .

Thanks for stopping by the blog today, and I hope you’re having a great Monday so far. I’m jamming out to Taylor Swift’s Evermore album right now—funny enough, my time in Glasgow converted me to a true Swifty.

Miles of smiles,
Grace

  1. I think the pictures look great! I just thrifted another striped jumpsuit today, this one white and blue and cropped. Finding them really comfortable this summer. I like the addition of the belt with this one and you need to wear it out and about. Jodie has a couple sticky bras she likes. You should message her.

    1. Ooh thanks for that recommendation Mireille, good idea! And I agree, jumpsuits just seem so comfy.

  2. Grace, I love that you restyled this fabulous jumpsuit in a more casual way this time. It looks so great with the denim jacket. Those sandals and your adorable round bag are perfect for an easy and cool summer look. Well done, my friend! I unfortunately do not have any sticky bra recommendations as there is not enough sticky in the world to support my boobs! Hahaha.
