And to think, I thought things would calm down after returning from Scotland! I have been so busy lately and the worst blogger these past two weeks. Since I missed last week’s weekly recap altogether, I decided to combine it with today’s post for the sake of continuity (don’t want to end the year with only 51 weekly recaps). From Las Vegas for my brother’s wedding, to Utah, to Denver, to Utah again, I finally made it back to Boise today and am so excited to be home! I haven’t been here since December, and after two weeks of couch surfing, I am really looking forward to sleeping in my own bed tonight. Check out some of my recent outfits and all the craziness below!

I spent the afternoon at a friend’s house catching up and lounging in his hot tub before grabbing sushi for dinner. I think this is the second time I’ve worn this exact outfit since being back in the States, but I know it won’t be the last.

I went back to that friend’s house and hung out all afternoon again, before getting dinner with his family. I opted to wear this super cute gingham dress layered under my denim jacket, since it was a little chilly today.

I defended my thesis this morning! It went really well and I passed with minor revisions, which are the last little bit of undergrad work I still have to complete before officially being done with school. I really needed to be productive today but only managed to take a few blog photos in the evening. Since I spent most of the day in my swimsuit by the pool, I just wore the same dress and jacket combo as yesterday.

I went into work at 4 am with my grandpa this morning, wearing the same dress as the previous few days… because I still hadn’t really sweat or done anything in it but lay around the house. My aunt came over in the afternoon so I could show her my stained glass projects from abroad, and then my mom’s cousin came for dinner and Euchre, our favorite card game.

Gingham Dress: Alt Rebel, $20 ($5.00 per wear), last worn here | Denim Jacket: JCPenney, $19 ($0.12 per wear), last worn here | White Sandals: DSW, $45 ($1.61 per wear), last worn here

My grandpa, mom, dad, and I drove to my grandpa’s farm in Utah this morning, spending the afternoon doing a few chores around the property.

My dad and I spent the day driving to Denver so that we could help my grandma move and so I could do a little apartment hunting. Once we arrived, we got dinner with my grandma, cousin, and aunt. I was tired after a long day of traveling and planned on going to bed early, but I scored a last-minute invite to an old friend’s 21st birthday party on campus. I almost didn’t go, but I’m so glad I decided to rally! It was a blast to see some friends I haven’t hung out with since sophomore year, and it was really special to attend one last hang-out on campus before graduating.

Black Mock-Neck Top: JCPenney, $11 ($0.29 per wear), last worn here | Denim Jacket: JCPenney, $19 ($0.12 per wear), last worn here | Olive Green Shorts: Loft, $25 ($1.14 per wear), last worn here | Brown Sandals: DSW, $19 ($0.27 per wear), last worn here

Sunday, May 15

My aunt, dad, and I spent the whole day packing up my grandma’s apartment and made lots of progress. I just wore athletic clothes since I figured I would get sweaty and grubby throughout the day. My dad and I spent the evening driving past the apartments on my list and crossed off almost every single one of them because the locations didn’t feel very safe. Even though apartment hunting was a dud, we watched the lunar eclipse later in the night and I thought that was SO cool!

The three of us spent the morning packing and organizing again. I grabbed dinner with a friend in the evening and decided to dress up for the occasion because, why the hell not! I’ve decided that in my “adult” life, I’m going to be the type of person who changes into fancier clothes in the evening before going out. I have too many cute clothes that aren’t getting enough wear! I opted for this colorful dress that my parents thrifted for me and styled the nude heels I wore to my brother’s wedding.

Patterned Dress: Thrifted, $9 ($9.00 per wear), last worn here | Nude Heels: Amazon, $46 ($11.50 per wear), last worn here

The morning was busy with more packing and organizing, and then my aunt and I toured two apartments in the afternoon. I thought looking for apartments would be fun, but so far, it’s just been really frustrating… Everything is either too expensive, too far from where I’ll be working, too sketchy, or a combination of all three. I toured an apartment today for an outrageous price that had leaks in the hallways and a mouse trap in the room I was being shown… It’s comical how bad some of these places have been.

Checkered Top: Charming Charlie, $13 ($0.52 per wear), last worn here | Denim Shorts: H&M, $25 ($1.47 per wear), last worn here | Black Sandals: Dillard’s, $30 ($0.51 per wear), last worn here

My dad and I packed up a few more of my grandma’s things this morning before the movers came, and then my aunt and I toured another apartment in the afternoon. This one was much nicer! In the evening, we all had dinner at her house and played Rubik’s Race, a really fun two-person game based off the classic Rubik’s Cube. I wore my cute red plaid top, which—aside from free t-shirts at events—is the only University of Denver item I own (‘Denver’ is embroidered on the corner).

Red Plaid Top: University of Denver Bookstore, $16 ($2.29 per wear), last worn here | Denim Shorts: Target, $18 ($1.80 per wear), last worn here | White Sandals: DSW, $45 ($1.55 per wear), last worn here

My aunt and I hung out with my grandma this morning before touring a few apartments—the first one was awesome, probably my top pick so far. The second one was what my aunt described as “putting lipstick on a pig”. And the third one was out of my budget but soooo swanky… It felt like a 5-star hotel with the coolest amenities. After apartment hunting, I met up with a friend to grab dinner and go mini golfing! He got a hole-in-one and I was *this* close from getting one three separate times, dang it.

It was in the mid-80s today but by the time we left dinner, it had cooled down SO much and it smelled like cows… the tell-tale smell of snow on the horizon. (People told me it smells like cows right before it snows when I first moved to Denver freshman year, and I always thought they were joking. But sure enough, it really does! I learned about it in one of my geography classes—it’s because the cold fronts come from Greeley, the agricultural district north of Denver, and bring the smell of cows with them. Funny, huh?)

My dad and I decided to head back to my grandpa’s farm a day early to beat the huge May snowstorm in Colorado—and thank goodness we did! It snowed on us most of the way from Denver to Grand Junction and would have been way worse of a drive had we left on Saturday, as originally planned. I was a little underdressed, to say the least… not sure what I was thinking wearing shorts and a tank top because it wasn’t even warm once we arrived at the farm in Utah.

We worked on the farm today, and I spent the morning mowing, one of my favorite activities! This is a pic from last summer but thankfully the air quality was much better today—clear blue skies and Utah mountains in the backdrop.

My parents and I drove from my grandpa’s farm back to Boise. We unloaded the truck, ordered pizza for dinner, and watched the latest Batman movie (parts of which were filmed in Glasgow!). I’m not really one for denim-on-denim, but today’s outfit was definitely the kind of look where I just threw together whatever clean clothes I had left in my suitcase.

Navy Patterned Blouse: TJ Maxx, $20 ($1.67 per wear), last worn here | Denim Jacket: JCPenney, $19 ($0.12 per wear), last worn here | Jeans: Express, $40 ($2.00 per wear), last worn here | White Sandals: DSW, $45 ($1.41 per wear), last worn here

. . . . .

I have so much to catch up on while I’m in Boise this week, but I couldn’t be happier to be home. These last few months have been such an adventure! As always, thanks for sticking with me and keeping up with the blog.

Miles of smiles,

Grace
