Holy cow, another week gone by without any new blog posts! To be honest, blogging has been the last thing on my mind this week. Between friends and family visiting and lots of school deadlines, I’ve been feeling extra stressed the past few days and oh-so behind on just about everything. But with that said, it has still been another week jam-packed with fun! I flew to London on Thursday to meet up with my parents, so I’m basically on a short vacation now during my four-month-long study abroad vacation, ha. Can’t say I have a problem with it!

Today was my friend’s last day in town, so I showed her around campus and Glasgow’s West End, we did some thrift shopping, and we grabbed lunch before I dropped her off at the bus station downtown. In the evening, I went to the pub quiz again and our team won—two weeks in a row!

I’ve worn this outfit once before during my time here but added a necklace over the mock-neck top today, which I think helps pull the look together.

I accidentally double-booked myself today… So I grabbed breakfast with some friends this morning before heading downtown with a different friend to get afternoon tea, an item that’s been on my Glasgow bucket list since I got here. It was really fun, but I have to say that the high tea I had at the Brown Palace Hotel in Denver was better!

I worked on a project this morning and then went to my Scottish culture class in the afternoon. Later, I spent the whole afternoon/evening at the library finishing my project (which took way longer than I anticipated) before heading back to my flat around 9 pm to make a late dinner. It was a very long day.

Black Tweed Dress: Macy’s, $30 ($4.29 per wear), last worn here | White Knee Socks: DSW, $15 ($0.94 per wear), last worn here | Black Knee Boots: Clarks via DSW, $100 ($1.22 per wear), last worn here

Today was so dang busy that I didn’t give a second thought to St. Patty’s Day! Of course, I didn’t have any green items to wear (because it clashes with the color scheme of my capsule wardrobe), but I wore my claddagh ring, like I do every day, which has a green stone in it. No pinching here.

I went to my stained-glass class and stayed there a few hours extra (five hours in total!) to finish my project of the Glasgow skyline. I’m so happy with how it turned out and can’t wait to show all my family back home. From class, I took the bus to the airport and flew down to London to meet up with my parents! It was so nice to catch up over dinner. I’m so happy they were able to come visit me and am excited for the next few weeks of traveling we have planned throughout the UK.

Sweater: Francesca’s, $45 ($2.65 per wear), last worn here | Skinny Jeans: Express, $42 ($1.83 per wear), last worn here | Black Knee Boots: Clarks via DSW, $100 ($1.20 per wear), last worn here

We spent a bulk of our first full day in London touring the Tower of London, which was full of fascinating history about monarchs and prisoners in the tower. After dinner in the evening, we went on a Jack the Ripper tour throughout Whitechapel to see where all the victims were found and listen to different conspiracy theories about the killer. Macabre, yes, but I found the tour so fascinating! I did a research project on Jack the Ripper in the seventh grade, yet I still learned a lot of things on the tour that I hadn’t known before (the guide could tell I was probably a little too enthusiastic about Jack the Ripper).

This hotel room pic isn’t the best lighting but gives you a sense of my outfit nonetheless. I felt really cute in it while bopping around town, but by big blue puffer coat layered on top kind of killed the vibe.

Sweater: Hand-me-down, last worn here | Maroon Moto Jacket: Denver boutique, $25 ($0.52 per wear), last worn here | Skinny Jeans: Express, $42 ($1.75 per wear), last worn here | Black Knee Boots: Clarks via DSW, $100 ($1.19 per wear), last worn here

We sure crammed in a lot of touristy things today! We grabbed breakfast near our hotel and then wandered around Trafalgar Square, walked past 10 Downing Street, toured the Churchill War Rooms (which was incredible), and explored the inside of Westminster Abbey. So many fascinating things to see and so much history!

I liked today’s outfit, but now that I know a few sewing basics, I think I should alter this shirt a little. It’s way too long, so I always have to tuck it into my pants, forming an awkward bunching. I think I might be able to crop it so that I would wear the top a lot more—I’ll add it to my endless list of projects for this summer.

Blush Tee: JCPenney, $18 ($1.20 per wear), last worn here | Maroon Moto Jacket: Denver boutique, $25 ($0.51 per wear), last worn here | Grey Mom Jeans: Express, $19 ($0.59 per wear), last worn here | Black Knee Boots: Clarks via DSW, $100 ($1.18 per wear), last worn here

Today we watched the Changing of the Guards at Buckingham Palace and then wandered over to Poets’ Corner in Hyde Park, where a few people were pontificating on their soap boxes. We spent the afternoon barely scratching the surface at the British Museum, and then we grabbed dinner with a family friend who is studying abroad in Germany and just happened to be in London this weekend. It was so great to see him! My mom made fun of the cropped-ness of my sweater, but this jumper has quickly become one of my favorite pieces.

Sweater: Gift | Skinny Jeans: Express, $42 ($1.68 per wear), last worn here | Leopard Rain Booties: Ralph Lauren via Macy’s, $60 ($0.98 per wear)

. . . . .

I’d love to get back to my regular blogging schedule this week, but honestly, I’ll be lucky if I even finish my homework in the next couple of days. It’s been so go-go-go, and I don’t want to miss out on any sight-seeing! Guess there’s just never enough time in the day…

As always, thanks for stopping by and for sticking with me through this rather uneventful blogging period!

Miles of smiles,

Grace

  1. I Love how you call your sweater a ‘jumper’! Is this Swedish for a sweater/blouse?

    1. It’s actually what British people call a sweater! I hadn’t ever heard that before I came here to study abroad in Scotland, but then a few people talked about ‘jumpers’ and I finally realized they were referring to sweaters/sweatshirts.

  2. This is not an uneventful blogging time, Grace. Even if it is just the weekly recap it always is such a pleasure to read about your adventures abroad. Your posts enable us readers to learn and “discover” something new without leaving home. Thank you for sharing that with us! <3

  3. No worries about your blogging schedule, we will not forget you! Sounds like a super busy week! I haven’t had as much time to read blogs lately with just little things getting done, extra church and spending more time relaxing outside with a book when I can. Looking forward to spring break. Love that burgundy moto jacket of yours!!
