There are two words that best describe this past week: cold and uneventful. Returning home to brisk 30-degree, dreary weather was a bit of a shock to my system after spending the previous two weeks in sunny Las Vegas and experiencing a very mild fall in Denver before that. Nothing makes me feel more unmotivated than cold, overcast days, and the last several days were a blur of laziness! The only exciting part of my week was returning to my full closet and experimenting with some of my favorite winter accessories. I’ve got some super cute outfits I’m excited to share today! And of course, a few misses as well.

I quickly threw on this boring outfit before my parents and I went to get our Covid booster shots this morning. Afterwards, I spent the whole day repacking my college stuff… When I moved out of my apartment a few weeks ago, I quickly and haphazardly packed everything, so I wanted to reorganize and categorize all of my belongings into tubs to make the moving process easier once I get a real apartment post-graduation. I haven’t worn these green cargo pants in a minute, but they used to be my go-to pants in high school when I was feeling too lazy to put together a cuter outfit.

My mom and I went to an alterations appointment at David’s Bridal this morning for the bridesmaid dress I’ll be wearing to my brother’s wedding in May—a frustrating experience, since the dress is already overpriced to begin with and then they charge you a ton for the simplest of hems. I probably will never get my cost per wear out of a floor-length gown, but hey, I’ll accept the challenge if it means I have to attend lots of galas and other fancy events.

I’ve worn this outfit before, and I love the color combo of this icy blue with the eggplant purple. The only downside is that these pants are saggy in the crotch—I hate pants that bunch up in that area. They were way too big when I got them freshman year of high school, and while they’re slightly less big now, the pants still have that annoying crotch problem. The only jeans I’ve found that don’t do that are my pairs from Express.

I watched my future sister-in-law defend her master’s thesis on Zoom this morning, and then I spent the rest of the day finishing my repacking project and starting to pack for Scotland. Can you tell I really enjoy packing?! I love the colors in this outfit and think the rust-colored sweater and big plaid scarf scream fall vibes (more specifically, fall style on Pinterest circa the early 2010s, but when have I ever been trendy?).

I attended a Zoom Q&A for my study abroad program this morning, and then I spent the whole afternoon arranging my Lego Christmas village on our piano as my mom put up the rest of our Christmas decorations. I am a huge Lego fan (never too old for them, in my opinion), and for the last several years, I have received a Lego set from the Winter Village line for Christmas. This is the first year I’ve arranged them all as Christmas decorations, and boy, I didn’t realize I had so many! When I was younger and first started my collection, I created an Excel spreadsheet to log the names, backstories, and even family trees of my Lego men. I haven’t done that in years, but I am very proud of how my Lego village display came together—I arranged all the Lego people to look like they’re doing something, such as petting the family dog, throwing snowballs at each other, putting the star on top of the town Christmas tree, etc. Nerdy, I know.

Legos aside, this was by FAR my favorite outfit from this week. I have been cultivating quite the brooch collection, so I broke out my sparkly G pin and the martini brooch I got for my 21st birthday to adorn this felt hat. I’ve owned this felt hat for more than 15 years but for some crazy reason have only worn it once. Why?! It’s adorable! I think younger me thought it was ugly, but today I was so excited to bedazzle it with some of my favorite pins and wear a matching green scarf. I felt so stinking cute in this look.

I took some blog photos this morning and finished watching “Ted Lasso” with my parents in the evening. This outfit saw several iterations—because I really thought the sweater and skirt combo had potential—but something just felt off about this look. I’m not sure if it’s the accessories themselves, too many colors in the accessories, or the actual sweater and skirt combo, but I would not wear this outfit again… It did not make me feel very confident.

My dad and I ran some Christmas-related errands this morning and ended up touring a model home on our way back—we love looking at real estate together. Later in the evening, I packed a bag for my brother’s wedding week in Las Vegas in May. I’ll be flying straight from Scotland to Vegas for the wedding, so I wanted to make sure to have all my outfits prepared! I had a great time putting together summery looks in the dead of winter… and of course it turned into a full-on fashion show by the end of the night.

I’ve worn this outfit before, and it’s one of my go-to winter looks. The purple sweater and navy is an interesting color combo to me (this sweater appears more purple in person), and you can’t go wrong with faux fur ear muffs! I think they are so fun.

. . . . .

My family always eats a nice breakfast together on Sunday mornings, so we had cheesy and bacon eggs with hash browns and orange juice today. Afterwards, my parents and I went on a walk around our neighborhood because the sun finally came out, for the first time all week! Denver has really spoiled me with its 300 days of sunshine—and the dreariness of Scotland is going to be a treat. How did I live in the Seattle area for eight years?!

Anyway, my week may have been uneventful, but I was really excited about some of these winter outfits. Which look was your favorite? Let me know in the comments below, and be sure to share your latest posts in this week’s linkup.

    1. Thanks Mireille! I tried to take some good pics of it but sadly the lighting isn’t very good where it is located! I will have to try again later.

  1. You have some really cute outfits here! I love the Wednesday one, definitely my favourite! A cosy knit, big blanket scarf and jeans is a winter staple for me for sure!
