There I go again, publishing my weekly recap on Monday instead of Sunday (tsk tsk). I had such a great weekend with my parents that I just couldn’t be bothered to spend much time on my phone/the internet! It’s really been hitting me today that I’m entering my final two weeks in Denver… for who knows how long. When I was a senior in high school, I was so excited to graduate, but college is hitting different—I’ve got alllll the senior year feels!

Today was a *little* rough being a Monday after Halloween, and I also had a midterm in one of my psych classes for which I wasn’t nearly prepared enough. I just threw on this purple sweater and grey jeans for something easy to get me through the day, before going to bed early. Honestly, the most productive thing I did all day was putting my own hair in a French braid. I’m really good at doing double French braids on myself or even a single braid on someone else, but for some reason doing one French braid on myself is a full arm workout. Today braid wasn’t half bad.

I procrastinated a little too much, even for me, and spent the entirety of today reading more than half of the book Just Mercy for my capital punishment course. After wine class in the evening, I spent the whole night writing the paper on said book. A stressful day but at least I finished the essay on time. While these beige booties aren’t my favorite with today’s look, I really like the brown sweater with the forest green pants—I think it’s an interesting color combo. And my beaded necklace (which my grandma made!) combined the colors perfectly.

Another day full of classes before I headed to a friend’s apartment for a Chipotle dinner and to finish watching “Midnight Mass”. Regarding today’s outfit, I really need to get some plain, sheer black tights—I don’t like how opaque my current ones are. They never seem very flattering on my legs and make any outfit too dark. I think this dress and denim jacket combo would’ve been a lot cuter with sheer tights, or maybe just no tights at all to break the look up a bit.

Thursday, November 4

I had a bit of a lazy start to the morning before running a few errands and writing my blog post in the afternoon. Today in wine class we studied some American wine regions, such as Napa and Walla Walla, and I really wish I had known half as much about wine as I do now back when I went wine tasting in Eastern Washington over the summer.

Friday, November 5

After a quick Zoom meeting in the morning for an upcoming group project in my wine class, I spent the majority of the day finishing the final project for my last business class I took two weekends ago. In the late afternoon, I drove out to Golden to spend the night with my parents! They’re in town for the weekend to celebrate my birthday and decided to stay out near Red Rocks instead of in Denver proper. We sipped margaritas, caught up, and then spent the night watching Titanic on Netflix—an absolute classic. It’s now a tradition that I spend my birthday watching a mildly depressing movie in a hotel room (last year’s film was Les Mis).

Saturday, November 6

Since I spent the majority of yesterday in cozy clothes while doing homework, I just wore the same outfit today as yesterday (don’t pretend it’s gross—I feel like we all do it every once in a while). My parents and I started the day with breakfast at a nearby diner before driving a ways away to a wool craft fair—yes, wool. There were old ladies and felted hats galore. It was actually so much fun to wander around and shop. I ended up getting a raspberry beret (like the Prince song!) and I am SO excited to wear it, especially when I’m abroad in Scotland. Afterwards, we wandered around downtown Boulder and spent more than 30 minutes in an antique jewelry store, looking at all the beautiful vintage pieces and hearing the stories behind them. Too bad it was a legit jewelry store in that every piece we looked at was multiple thousands of dollars! I was afraid to touch anything.

After an early Thai food dinner, I drove by myself back to campus to get ready for a night out. Since I turned 21 last year during quarantine and didn’t even get to drink, I decided it was only fair to have a re-do this year. I invited a few of my friends out and we went bar hopping downtown! It was such a blast and everything I hoped my *second* 21st birthday would be. I wore this sequin rose gold blouse that I got steeply discounted at a local boutique and completed the outfit with a golden tiara and sash that my friend bought me last year.

Sunday, November 7

Not surprisingly, Saturday was a late night, but I still woke up at 8 and rallied to spend time with my parents. We wandered around the Mother Cabrini shrine (which I visited by myself a few weeks ago) before meeting up with my aunt to play doubles tennis. It was so much fun and absolutely beautiful weather for a November day! Thankfully, I managed to squeeze in a much-needed nap in the afternoon before meeting up with my aunt, uncle, cousin, grandma, and my other adult cousin for a family birthday dinner. I was so grateful to celebrate with them, and the waiter even made me this special b-day dessert. My actual birthday isn’t until Tuesday, but don’t you just love spreading your birthday out into a birth week?!

. . . . .

Not that I needed any reminders, but this time of year always makes me feel so grateful for the wonderful people in my life. I’m so happy I got to live out my 21st birthday dreams and can’t wait to spend tomorrow with my parents! As always, thanks so much for stopping by the blog today.

Miles of smiles,

Grace

  1. Happy birthday! Hope you enjoy your Tuesday! Love the variety in your outfits: love the dress one and the palazzo pants the best but that combo of the green forest pants and brown top is cool too. Well done! Sounds like another fun week. I cannot believe you will be abroad next semester. Don’t forget to keep on blogging so we can follow along!
