Wow, what a fun first week back at school! I have to admit, I wasn’t very excited about returning to campus this year… But now, after the past few days of exploring my old haunts and catching up with friends, I couldn’t be happier to be back at school. I’ve also enjoyed having a purpose to get dressed again! Most days over the summer, I threw on an outfit for the sake of my weekly recaps, but now I actually have a reason to get dressed every day—it feels good.

My last first day of school ever!! I can’t believe I’m a senior or how fast the time has flown. This quarter, Mondays and Wednesdays are my busiest days, so I had three classes today—Capital Punishment, Adult Psychopathology, and Social Psychology. For the most part, we just went over the syllabi and course introductions, but the Capital Punishment class is already so fascinating!

After my parents helped me take my quintessential ‘first day’ pic (you can see the previous three years in this blog post—I’ve worn the same outfit and taken the same picture every year), the three of us crossed off a bucket list item of mine, which was to see a concert at Red Rocks Amphitheater. I’ve been wanting to go since freshman year, and now that I’m a senior, I’m realizing I have to cram in all the things I’ve always talked about doing! We saw the band Death Cab for Cutie (who were great, by the way), and the first pic in today’s post is from the concert venue.

The last time I wore this skirt, a hole started ripping right down the seam in the back, so I handstitched it back together in preparation for today’s outfit. When I undressed later in the day, however, I noticed the hole is already coming back! Thank goodness it stayed sewn enough to last me through my classes—that could’ve been a rough start to the school year.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays, I only have one class from 4-6 pm—a wine tasting course. How cool is that?! I spent a lot of the morning unpacking and working more on decorating my apartment. In the afternoon, I had a photoshoot to attend for a special event I was invited to on campus—I can’t wait to share more about that in a few weeks! I went back and forth several times on what to wear for the pictures, but my parents convinced me I had to style the coolest pants ever… The photographer and his assistant both commented on how much they liked them.

After wine class, I quickly took some blog photos and motored over to a park in town to guest play for my cousin’s soccer team. It’s always out of my comfort zone to play with a bunch of strangers, but I’m so glad I did! It was a ton of fun and I kicked some booty, if I do say so myself.

I got coffee with a friend this morning whom I haven’t seen since pre-Covid! It felt so good to catch up. Otherwise, I had a busy day of class and chores, trying to get completely settled into my place. This is the first time I’ve worn this crop top, and I felt really cute in it!

I finally got a new blog post up this morning and then spent a lot of the day running errands and doing schoolwork. After wine class in the afternoon, I went to a club meeting for my school’s undergraduate research journal, which I participated in last year as well. While I’ve worn this denim skirt a few times on the blog before, this was the first time I wore it out and about for a full day—and it definitely rides up when I walk all the way across campus. But oh well, I still really like it!

It was actually really chilly this morning, so I jumped at the chance to throw on a sweatshirt for the first time this fall! I had a meeting to get to know my RA today (yes, I have an RA again now that I’m living back on campus), and I spent the afternoon roaming through Ikea and Target to find some finishing touches for my apartment. Afterwards, I set up a picnic blanket on the quad and got to reading in the crisp fall air—there’s nothing better than lounging on campus during back-to-school season!

I worked on study abroad stuff this morning and got a lot of reading done for one of my classes. One of the reasons I was nervous for school this year is because two of my best friends graduated in the spring, and I really miss them. But, the silver lining is that I have all this free time to work ahead on homework now! What’s ‘working ahead’, you say? I know, it’s a new concept for me, too. Later in the evening, I went out to dinner with a friend and got to enjoy a little nightlife of downtown Denver. It was so much fun and reminds me why I love the independence of college so much. I took some quick blog photos in my outfit beforehand—it was a little too hot for the denim jacket but I rocked the floral romper and sandals.

Sunday, September 19

I had a slow start this morning and then wandered around the Denver Arts Festival in the afternoon. Later, since the festival was so close to my grandma’s place, I stopped in to say hello, and we ended up chatting for quite a while. It was such a blast, and I’m so glad I got to spend time with her! I just wore this outfit that I’ve worn several times before, although I quickly regretted the choice of black—it was hot today.

. . . . .

How was your week?? And which of this week’s outfits is your favorite? The lighting in my apartment is pretty horrible, except for in one place, which just so happens to be where my furniture is located. So I tested out taking my OOTD pics outside this week—let me know what you think. I hope you have a great rest of your Sunday, and as always, thanks for reading!

  1. As a college senior in this day and age, you’ve got to contend with a whole new set of challenges. And that’s in addition to whatever required courses you need to finish. I am wishing all the best for the year ahead, Grace 🙂 Aiva xx

  2. 3 favorites this week: the last one, the awesome pants one and the denim skirt one: love love those! Fun to read about your classes, wine tasting sounds like fun even though I don’t really drink wine and am looking forward to your recap at the end of the semester to see what you thought about each class.
