Phew, you know it’s been a busy week when I miss both blog posts and don’t get my Sunday recap up until 9 pm! I spent the past several days packing, driving to Denver, and moving into my new apartment—I took this pic five minutes ago to commemorate my first night in my new place. I already love it so much and can’t wait to make so many senior year memories here! Now, onto this week’s outfits (which were strategically chosen based on the clothing I wanted to leave at home and/or the clothes I hadn’t packed yet).

I binged more of “The Mindy Project” with my mom today, just like last week, before grabbing lunch with a friend at a new-to-me Ethiopian restaurant. The food was delish! I spent the rest of the day packing and wore this cute peplum top with these pinstripe/floral shorts I rarely wear.

I had an online interview this morning with Jen from the blog Rewear It Well to answer some questions for her regarding her graduate thesis about sustainability in fashion. If you haven’t read Jen’s blog, you should definitely check it out! I love her guilt-free, relatable approach to making fashion more environmentally friendly. After the interview, my mom and I went shopping at the mall for the first time in forever. I got two new swimsuits (steeply discounted, of course) as well as some really cute PJs to wear in my new apartment! Later that night, we went to a last-minute dinner at our good family friends’ house, and it was a blast catching up with them one last time before heading back to school. I realized it’s definitely time to retire this summery dress for the rest of the year!

Wednesday, September 8

In true Grace fashion, today was a hectic day as I raced around trying to finish all the tasks I should have done sooner in the week. I completed lots of chores, finished packing, and went grocery shopping before my brother came over for one last family dinner. I even found a few minutes to play ping pong with my dad! I didn’t wear anything special aside from athletic clothes since I was frantically running around the house all day.

My parents and I got up at 4:30 and hit the road for the 12 hour drive to Denver! Aside from some traffic and construction in a few areas, it was a pretty easy drive—just long. Once in Denver, we ate dinner at my aunt’s house and spent the night catching up. I wore my cute DU top, the only thing I own from my university’s bookstore, which I purchased on sale freshman year with a gift card I had won.

We had a slow start to the morning and decided to head to my grandma’s place to catch up. Afterwards, we motored over to campus so I could get my Covid test prior to moving in. We ate lunch at one of our traditional lunch spots, and then I swung by the school’s on-campus job fair—which was a total waste of time, unfortunately. Later in the night, we went back to campus so I could wander around the club fair before grabbing dinner at my favorite restaurant with my cousin.

I haven’t worn this dress in forever, and I wasn’t really planning on bringing it with me to school this fall. However, I remembered last minute that I wanted to attend the job fair, so I threw this piece on the top of my suitcase to look semiprofessional for the event. Some guy complemented the dress, and as I looked up to say thank you, I spilled my glass of water all over myself—hot.

My parents and I got up early this morning to head to campus and check into my new apartment! As expected, it took the entire day to unload all my stuff and start the unpacking process (as well as rearrange the furniture several times until I found an orientation to my liking). I still have all the decorating to do, which will be tomorrow’s task. We finished the night by picking up take-out and eating outside my grandma’s apartment with her and my aunt’s family.

And here’s what I wore today! My parents and I ran some errands for the apartment this morning before I spent most of the day unpacking and decorating again. I also spent a significant portion of the day moving my mirror around to try and find the best lighting for OOTD pics—to no avail. I’ve been liking taking my outfit pics outdoors, so even though it’s more of a hassle, I’m considering finding a place right outside my apartment to snap my photos each day.

For dinner, I went to my aunt’s house for another family meal before heading back to campus for an RA meeting. Yes, since I live on campus again this year, I unfortunately have a resident assistant and school rules to follow again. Ah well.

It’s been a whirlwind of a week, and I know this coming week will be no different—the first few days of school are always so stressful! I’m nervous for classes to start tomorrow, but I’m excited to get into the swing of things and to see all my friends again.

As always, thanks for sticking with me during this busy time! I hope you had a great week and weekend.

    1. Haha I remember when my mom used to say that same thing, driving my brothers and me around all the time! Thanks for the comment, Mireille.

  1. Cute outfits Grace! I love that jumpsuit, of course! Very pretty and the dark florals will work well this upcoming season. It’s been so long since I have been to school. Definitely a different kind of busy back then. I don’t miss the homework but absolutely miss the move in and meeting the folks living on the same wing with me at the house! Have a great rest of your week and happy Wednesday!

    1. Thanks Maureen! I agree, I don’t think I will miss the stress, but there are so many fun aspects of college that I’m going to miss a ton once I graduate.
