Long time no see, huh? I had no intention of taking the last several days off from blogging—or publishing this weekly recap on a Monday instead of a Sunday—yet here we are… It happens. But blogging should return to regular programming on Thursday with a back-to-school-themed post and a linkup! In the meantime, here’s what I was up to last week and a few outfits I wore.

Monday, August 2

I worked on finishing my blog post all morning before jumping in the pool for most of the afternoon! After dinner, my parents, grandpa, and I watched the 1959 movie North by Northwest—it was pretty boring…

I worked a TON today and only took a break to go swimming in the afternoon. Our poor friend Pablo, the peacock pool floaty, met his demise today—there was a hole at one of the seams that couldn’t be patched. I’m blaming it on a manufacturing error, not a user error. We had leftovers for dinner and then watched The Fugitive, starring Harrison Ford, which was a fun movie! Way more exciting than last night’s drag.

Today was the first time I put on real clothes in several days… I opted for this dark floral tank and my olive skirt, which you may remember is my ‘first day of school’ skirt. Halfway through the day, my mom pointed out a small hole along the seam in the back, and by the time I changed into my PJs later that night, the hole was huge. Guess I will have to find time to stitch that up at some point this week. I mostly worked again today, played a little Euchre with the family, and then spent the night chit-chatting with my parents and my mom’s cousin, who came over for dinner.

Today turned out to be really busy, and even though I was working on today’s blog post in the spare minutes I had, I still wasn’t able to finish it [shrugs]. I had a work meeting at noon, got in my last laps at the pool, and then went to an impromptu, socially distanced meet-up with some family. After dinner, I took blog photos in the neighborhood and then started packing for my trip back home.

We spent the morning doing a little more packing before driving to my grandpa’s farm in Utah. I had a lazy afternoon of playing Euchre, going to the grocery store, and doing crossword puzzles (my favorite!). Not surprisingly, these super cool pants were a little ‘much’ for this rural town—I got lots of funny looks in the grocery store.

My parents made the most delicious French toast breakfast this morning! After stuffing our faces, we got straight to work on the farm, trying to beat the heat. It had rained so much in Utah the past two weeks that the grass and weeds were out of control—several feet high in some places. I spent four hours mowing all around the house and the perimeter of the farmland! I LOVE riding this lawn mower. Pushing a lawn mower? No, not for me. Too much work. But driving a lawnmower? I could do it all day! It’s seriously so fun and I was just belting out tunes, since there was nobody around to hear me.

After the chores were done, we got shakes for lunch and I took a nap on the couch. We watched one of my favorite movies on TV, The Proposal, and my mom and I did foot masks. Have you ever done one before? Not sure it helped make my hooves any nicer to look at, but it was fun nonetheless.

. . . . .

How was your week?? Now that I’m back home, I’m trying to catch up with some friends before they all head back to school. That’s one funny thing about the quarter system—I don’t start school again until mid-September, so I always forget that my friends move back to campus so much sooner than I do!

As always, thanks for stopping by today, and I hope you have a great start to your week.

  1. Grace, I love all of these fun photos and all of your cute outfits! Your striped swimsuit is so adorable! But poor floaty peacock meeting his demise! I also love crossword puzzles, by the way, and I also get funny looks in the grocery store because I am generally way over dressed for the grocery store as well as for my tiny little rural town! Fun post, my friend.
