Well, it’s been a stressful week of moving, but I couldn’t be more excited to be back home for the summer. The last time I slept in my own bed was the first week of January, which is the longest I’ve ever been away from my house! It feels so good to be back, and I was ecstatic to see our lavender bushes are still in full bloom and buzzing with bees. This is where I took most of my blog photos last year during quarantine, and I loved the purple backdrop. Now, onto this week’s summery looks!

I spent today working more on my Paint by Numbers project and reading a book out on the deck of my apartment. I did a little packing here and there as well, and I promised I would pick some friends up from the airport later in the evening. Of course, their plane ended up being delayed, so I didn’t go get them until midnight! But I was still really happy to help and excited to see them.

This cute red top is the only thing I own from my school’s spirit store (it has an embroidered ‘Denver’ in one of the corners) because I won a gift card to the store through some contest. Otherwise, spirit wear is ridiculously expensive! I just paired it with these super old khaki cargo shorts because most of my other clothes were already packed, but the top would be much cuter with high-waisted denim shorts (blue or white).

I spent the morning with a friend before heading back to my apartment to pack more and work on my painting. Later in the evening, my friend and I made linner to try and use the last of my food, and then I had a bridesmaid Zoom call to discuss the dresses we each have tried on (the bride is letting each bridesmaid choose her own dress as long as it fits certain parameters). After the meeting, I rushed to a downtown park for my last soccer game on my cousin’s intramural team. It was a super fun experience, and I’m considering officially joining the team in the fall! I drove back to campus and went on a late-night ice cream run with a friend. I wore the same red tank and shorts combo today that I wore yesterday, since I didn’t really go out or get the clothes sweaty.

I hung out with my friend one last time in the morning before heading back to my apartment to pack and paint some more. I was trying really hard to finish the Paint by Numbers before leaving Denver so that I could pack it with my school decorations (and throw out the rest of the supplies), but I couldn’t quite finish it. I’ll have to work on it next week and then share a picture on the blog, since it’s all I’ve been talking about lately! In the afternoon, my dad arrived in town to help me move out, and we ended up joining my cousin for dinner downtown.

These black cargo shorts are the same as the khaki pair I wore on Monday and Tuesday, and they, too, are way too big. I think this outfit would be a lot cuter if I replaced the cargo shorts with black denim shorts instead (but of course I don’t own any of those).

Today was SO hectic. My dad and I woke up bright and early to make breakfast and use as much of the food in my fridge as possible. Then I showered so that I could do one final load of laundry before packing the last of my towels, dish towels, etc. We spent the day loading the car, cleaning my apartment, and returning all my WiFi equipment. I also had a quick work meeting and drove to my aunt’s house to unload all of my stuff (she so graciously lets me keep my college gear in her basement during the summers). I returned my keys to the leasing office and said goodbye to my first big girl apartment! Afterwards, my dad and I were finally able to sit down and rest, heading to my grandma’s place to have a big takeout family dinner and say goodbye to everyone before leaving for the summer.

I love this palm print top, but I haven’t worn it a lot because it’s pretty cropped (and I previously didn’t own any high-waisted shorts). But now that I picked up this denim pair from Target, I absolutely love the combo! It feels so summery, and it would be even cuter with jewelry (which I had already packed by this point). When I got dressed this morning my dad said, “Is that what a fashion blogger wears when moving?” Yah, maybe not the most practical outfit, but I sure did look cute.

My dad and I woke up at 5:30 and spent the whole day driving home! It was a really grueling drive—with pouring rain and tons of construction—but I was so grateful to finally get back around 7:00pm. I wore this super cute purple plaid shirt with navy and purple plaid shorts. It’s actually a cycling outfit from Club Ride that my parents got me for Christmas, but I figured it would be a comfy outfit for the long car ride home.

I slept in a bit today (in my own bed!!!) before heading to a local ice cream shop to hang out with my friend and her boyfriend. In the afternoon, I started unpacking the nightmare that is currently my bedroom. I have been sending my dad home with stuff every time he has visited Denver this spring, so now my room is filled with apartment things that I will need in the future but do not need right now—oh, what to do with it all. I ate dinner with my dad and brother outside on the patio and watched a movie later in the night. It finally feels like summer!

I’ve only worn this blue and white bodysuit once before, and for some reason, I thought wearing it without a bra would be a good idea. The memory of it still haunts me… But, now that I have this white lacey bralette and high-waisted jean shorts, I thought this outfit was actually pretty cute. Being back home, you may recall how much I struggle with good outfit-of-the-day photos here—even though I have a full-length mirror in my bedroom, the lighting in my room is terrible. So I guess ugly brown garage pictures are the best it’s gonna get for right now!

Which of this week’s summery outfits is your favorite? I like the palm print tank look, followed by the blue and white bodysuit—I’ll be photographing both outfits sometime this summer for full blog posts.

Thanks for hanging with me as I’ve been slacking on the blog-front these past few weeks. I hope you have a great rest of your Sunday!

  1. I am glad to hear you are back home for the summer, Grace. I wish you a good summer. May you have a great time with your family. Aiva 🙂 xxx

  2. It’s always so nice to be home Grace.
I know what you mean about the crop top. I have one I accidentally bought off Poshmark, not realizing it was cropped. I have found that it can work over a dress or even under a kimono (so the midriff showing isn’t quite as obvious!!)
