This has been one of those weeks where Monday feels like forever ago. And even though the weather has been rainy and kind of dreary for most of it, it means campus has been looking green and lusher than ever. I love being here in the springtime, and within the last week or so, all of the pretty trees have started blooming and the air is rich with fragrance. I took the above pic on Thursday night in front of one of the older buildings on campus. They finally filled the fountains again and it looks (and smells, and sounds) so pretty! I think this is where I plan on taking graduation photos next spring. But anyway, back to the post… Here are this week’s outfits and all the fun activities that have been keeping me busy!
Monday, May 10
I had my two usual classes in the morning before two quick meetings in the afternoon, one for the research journal and one with my study abroad advisor. If you’ve been following for a while, you may recall that I was supposed to study abroad at the University of Glasgow in Scotland last fall. Obviously, the pandemic had different plans for me, but I’ve been trying to go abroad this coming fall instead. Well, with this and that (and a lot going on behind the scenes), I decided that it makes more sense—and I would be more comfortable—to study abroad in the spring of 2022 instead. I officially deferred my study abroad nomination today, so now the plan is to go abroad from January until May 2022. Then I’ll graduate college as soon as I get home! Crazy stuff.
It was raining most of the day, so I just went for comfort in this rather drab outfit. My friend and I decided to have a craft night in the community commons building and I worked on a paint by numbers piece! Super fun and relaxing (although, tedious at the same time).

I spent all morning studying because I had a midterm exam in my Forensic Psychology class in the afternoon. I haven’t gotten the grade back yet, but I feel pretty good about it! For dinner, instead of cooking like usual, my boyfriend and I decided to go out to a Thai restaurant near school that he really likes. I wore this blush lace-up tee with my super dark-wash cropped flared jeans and my leather jacket. I thought the snakeskin belt was a cute and sassy touch.

After my classes in the morning, I made a quick trip to a nearby consignment store for Monday’s Thrifty Six collaboration post. I was actually kind of dreading it, which is odd considering I love shopping, but it turned out to be a good experience. Afterwards, I went for not one but TWO walks, with two different friends, and then got dinner at the dining hall with the second friend. It was actually sunny today, so I was eager to get outside!
I did not like this outfit, however. I’ve worn this floral tank top from Cabi with my denim jacket before and really like the combo. But paired with this grey maxi skirt? It wasn’t working for me, and I was really excited to change as soon as possible. That’s how you know an outfit is not good.

I spent the morning getting dolled up and then drove to a nearby park to take some blog photos for Monday’s blog post. Yesterday on my walk I found a woman’s university ID in a neighborhood near campus, so I also delivered that to her. After my classes, I met with the editorial staff of the research journal to take a photo for the publication (which will be released this Monday!) before we all got dinner together on the journal’s dime—we love free food. I planned on having a quiet night in my apartment but an old friend came to town for his graduation and I really wanted to see him. I ended up staying out pretty late chatting with a big group of friends!
I was not dressed in the right attire to hang out, however, since I went straight from the journal meeting (we agreed to wear professional clothes) to my friend’s house. But hey, isn’t this such a cute spring outfit?? I love the pattern mixing of the floral cardigan with the pinstripe dress. By the way, I wore this dress to my Catholic school’s May Crowning ceremony in the 8th grade. That’s how old it is.

Friday, May 14
How do we feel about denim on denim when it’s two different colors?? This is the first time I’ve worn my black denim jacket with blue jeans, and I think it’s cute… but I’m not totally convinced yet. After my statistics lab this morning, I did some homework, and then my friend and I got dolled up to go to happy hour (see below!). I never put on eyeshadow but I decided to try it tonight and thought it looked (somewhat) decent. It was fun at least, and the drinks were great! We decided on a whim to wonder around Ikea afterwards, which I have never been to before. I love interior design, so we had a great time imagining ourselves living in the various rooms and discussed what we liked/disliked. Turns out, Ikea is kind of a hopping place on a Friday night—who knew.

I slept in this morning and then felt extremely restless, but I needed to take a few pics with this new lipstick for a sponsored post on Instagram. It’s a pretty pink, but it’s much brighter than the everyday shade I was hoping for! I can’t imagine I’ll get that much use out of it because it’s kind of an intimidating color. Anyway, I was largely unproductive today before going to a graduation party later in the night and staying up way past my bedtime.
. . . . .
Would you believe it if I said I had an unproductive Sunday, also? For goodness sakes, I’m publishing this blog post past ten o’clock! What is my deal? I’ve decided to test out publishing my weekly recaps on Sundays instead of Saturdays for the next few weeks, but I’m hoping to at least get back on track by posting in the mornings again. We’ll see. I only have three and a half weeks of school left before it’s finally summer!
How was your weekend? And what are you looking forward to in the coming week? My dad arrived in town today, so I’m excited to spend some time with him. As always, thanks for stopping by my blog.
Miles of smiles,
Grace
Hey grace, really loved that floral jacket of yours! I’m looking forward to your next post!
I hope you have a great time with your dad!
– Divi.
Thank you so much Divi! I appreciate that!
Grace, you have no reason to feel intimidated by the richness of the color of your new lipstick. It looks great on you, and it will not clash at all with a bright Spring wardrobe. Hugs, Donna
Thanks so much Donna! I will have to rock it more this summer then. 🙂
I am so glad the school year is almost over. I am looking forward to some fun times with the kids and some less rigid schedules.Sounds like a pretty busy week but moslty filled with some fun stuff!

You and me both, Mireille! I’m excited to spend time with my parents. That’s the best in the summertime, when everyone can just play and hang out!
I agree with Donna: that pink lippy is awesome on you, and not as bright as you think. I think you might just be not used to wearing bright lippy! Wear it a few times and just get used to seeing it on your face, and before you know it, you won’t even think about it. I was like that when I started wearing bright lipsticks and glosses. Nothing to fear (plus they look great in photos).
I love your dress/floral cardi outfit – it’s SO pretty – and also your “Canadian tuxedo”, ha ha! Double denim for the win! It looks great together, since the denims are totally different colours.
I’ve been playing with eyeshadows and trying to shake up my routine. I’ve been doing a wash on my lids of whatever bright colour I have in my clothes, instead of my usual contour/shadowing, just to be more current for spring/summer. It’s good to try new things, so well done!
My week ahead is quiet, but it’s a long weekend in Canada (next Mon is a holiday), so I’m excited to hang out with our friends in the park on Saturday. Whatever shall I wear?? Hee hee! Have a great week!
That sounds so fun! What a nice way to shake things up – actually going out for once, lol. Thank you for the tips on the lipstick and I’m glad the tuxedo was well received, ha!
I love your Thursday’s outfit and that beautiful pinstripe dress! Yesterday was a big day for us who live in Ireland as all non-essential retail are now open since yesterday amid a further easing of Covid-19 lockdown restrictions. Thanks for sharing and have a nice day. Aiva 🙂 xxx
Thank you Aiva! And that is very exciting news about non-essential retail opening again. 🙂
