Coming at ya’ a day later than usual this weekend! Even though the weather started a little rainy at the beginning of the week, it turned around and the past few days have been sunny and gorgeous—hot, even. It’s finally time to pull out all my spring dresses and sandals and I’m not mad about it! In other news, I made some pancakes this week, took a midterm, and spent a day in Colorado Springs (that’s Pike’s Peak in the pic above!), so keep reading to see my outfits and shop similar looks.

This maroon patterned dress and utility jacket is a combo I’ve reached for time and time again over the years. Especially for Monday mornings, or whenever I’m running late, I love to throw on a casual dress because it’s one step and done. I went on an early walk with my friend before class this morning and then had to hop on a quick call with the volunteer coordinator at the camp where I volunteer in the summers.

For those of you who don’t know, my brother battled cancer when we were both very young, and for years I attended a camp through Camp Rainbow Gold specifically for the siblings of those who have or have had cancer. Now, I volunteer there as a counselor! It is such an incredible organization, and I hope to share more about it in the summer around camp time. But for now, Camp Rainbow Gold is organizing a fundraiser to help fund their programs and keep camp free for every camper (and every dollar will be matched!). I offered to volunteer as a peer fundraiser, so you can read a little more about my family’s story with cancer and consider a donation at this link.

How chic is this outfit? I’m surprised I’ve never tried this combo before! I changed into this pink blazer on Monday night because I needed to film a video for a group project in my business class, but I liked the look so much that I figured I should just wear it today, too. The bright pink really pops and I like how graphic it looks with the checkered peplum top. The dark jeans were the perfect way to tone down the outfit.

I spent all morning today making pancakes—it took an hour and a half! Since I don’t have a griddle, and because I made a huge batch of batter, I had to cook the pancakes one by one in a tiny frying pan… Not ideal but they were delicious, and I’ve been enjoying the leftovers all week. After my classes, I worked on some homework before having a quick meeting with the research journal and then dinner with my boyfriend. Tonight we made fried fish, grilled asparagus, and mac & cheese. It was so yummy!

Wednesday, April 28

I just had my Statistics class today because we had a take-home midterm exam in my Climatology course. I was extremely nervous, so I spent most of the afternoon re-watching lectures and studying before taking a break at 4 to Skype with my high school buddy for a couple hours. I took the midterm after dinner and, let’s just say, it’s a good thing I studied so much!

It was super rainy and gross out today, so my outfit kind of reflected the mood. I do not like this look very much; I mean, it’s fine, but it’s just nothing special at all. My tee is actually a dark forest green, but I think this outfit is just too dark overall. A lighter colored tee would have been cuter.

I was SO productive this morning before classes (a rare occurrence, I know), and after school was done for the day, my friend and I played tennis at a nearby park. We got dinner together at the dining hall afterwards before I went on a walk with my boyfriend. It was so pretty out and the perfect temperature! I love the springtime, especially when everything starts to bloom again.

I had my lab in the morning before running around to do a few errands and making cupcakes in the afternoon. It was another productive day for me! Two in a row, holy cow! I just wore this hand-me-down heart-print dress to stay comfy and cool throughout the day. I started by wearing a jean jacket but that only lasted about five minutes until I got too sweaty for it!

Saturday, May 1

I cannot believe it’s already May! I actually did most of the work for my weekly recap blog post this morning but didn’t quite have enough time to finish it before picking my friend up to head to Colorado Springs for the day. She had a gift card to a restaurant that she needed to spend, so we ate lunch outside before exploring the downtown and hiking around Garden of the Gods. I’ve been there a few times but it’s always so beautiful! Once we got back to campus, we had a game night with another friend, and then I just had a lazy Saturday night in bed.

. . . . .

I don’t have anything going on today except for that I get my second dose of the vaccine at 11. I’m nervous but also excited to be fully vaccinated! I’m hoping to spend the rest of the day lounging about and soaking in the sunshine on our deck.

Do you have any Sunday plans? Did you do anything fun this weekend? Let me know! As always, thanks so much for stopping by the blog today.

Miles of smiles,
Grace

  1. I love your pink blazer and polka dot dress. It’s amazing how polka dots have been in style since the Fifties and never went out of fashion. They are definitely one of those trends that without problem move from one season to another and are constantly between our favourites. It’s a chic and timeless style and it has the power to make you look classy no matter what are you wearing. Thanks for sharing and have a good day. I hope all is well 🙂 Aiva xxx

    1. Thank so much, Aiva! And I completely agree – polka dots are timeless and will never go out of style! Such a cute print for any occasion.

    1. Thank you! I hope you’re able to go and that it’s super fun! I love getting outside once the weather feels spring-like, too. 🙂

  2. Some cute outfits here, Grace! I love your pink blazer the most, and agree that your dark green tee is just kind of “meh” with that outfit (the leather jacket is amazing, though!). I call those “throw ’em on” dresses Jammy Dresses! They are the best, aren’t they?

How cool to go hiking and eat out (our restaurants haven’t been open for dine-in for a few months). I’m envious that you now have your second vaccination – I just got booked for my first, next week.

    1. Yes, the jammy dresses are the best!! And that’s very exciting you’ll be getting the first vaccine next week; I hope it goes well. Thank you for your comment!

    1. Thanks Mireille! The weather here hasn’t been very good lately, so I haven’t been able to hike a ton either. Hope your week is off to a good start!
