For once, I did not have a super busy week! It has felt so good to have a break from school and relax a little. I still have a long to-do list that I *should* tackle over spring break (break doesn’t end until Wednesday), but am I going to do it? Probably not… I have to admit, I thought it would be much warmer in Las Vegas, but the past week has been windy and in the 50s/60s. So as tempting as the pool looks, I have just been sitting by it but have not been in it! My mom brought me my spring clothes from home so I have had a lot of fun this week reacquainting myself with all my colorful spring pieces, even if I have been a little chilly. Here are the outfits!

Whenever I come to Vegas, it means waking up at 4 am every morning to head into my grandpa’s office for work. It’s always an adjustment, but I would be lying if I said it isn’t kind of nice to be up and at ‘em bright and early! I usually do the crossword puzzles from the daily newspaper, which sometimes take me all day to finish. At 8 am this morning (which feels like noon when you get up at 4), my parents and I played doubles tennis with my mom’s cousin. Later in the day, I got a tour of my uncle’s new house, complete with the most fabulous furniture and décor (I think I should take blog pics there, hehe), and we had family dinner afterwards at my aunt’s house. Basically all my family is fully vaccinated now, except for my parents and myself, which is such a relief!

I absolutely love this floral jumpsuit from Francesca’s. It is so cute and easy to slip on, perfect with my denim jacket for a light layer! I wasn’t sure I loved these tough black sandals with the look when I was wearing it, but I like them more now seeing the whole look photographed. What do you think?

Another 4 am wakeup call, another round of crossword puzzles. We played doubles tennis again and then I spent a lot of the day planning my friend’s 21st birthday surprise (more on that to come in a few weeks!). After dinner, we played Euchre, which is a card game popular in the Midwest. I absolutely lovvvvve it, but I always have to convince my grandpa to play! (Even though we all know he loves it, too.)

In other news, I did not like this outfit very much. Even though you can’t really tell in the pic, this Cabi jacket has a cool pattern with little flecks of pastel green and pink. I originally tried it on over this pastel yellow blouse, and the color combination was ah-mazing. However, because the blouse has a ruffle down the middle, it looked funny with the jacket. I swapped it for this blue top instead but didn’t like the combo nearly as much… I wasn’t willing to change again, though, so I just wore it anyway.

I was very chipper on Monday at 4 am, the first time I had to get up so early, but I got progressively less and less excited to wake up throughout the week… I didn’t do a ton today aside from crossword puzzles and some work for my research assistant position, but my parents and I joined my grandpa for his daily “schmear run” at Einstein’s Bagels. Since they sadly don’t have gluten-free bagels there, I usually get two of the hash brown bites with an orange juice. After coming home, my mom and I went to my favorite thrift store! You may remember this blog post when I got a ton of dresses for just $1 each. Unfortunately, there were no dollar deals this time, but I did walk away with two really cute dresses. Can’t wait to share them here, and I’m kicking myself for not taking pictures and sharing a thrift store try-on haul!

This outfit was an easy, casual combination for me. I’ve been so excited to wear these mustard pants for some reason, and they paired perfectly with my off-white crochet top and anorak jacket!

By now you know the drill—early morning, crossword puzzles, schmear time, Euchre after dinner, in bed by 8 pm. Thankfully this afternoon, my aunt was kind enough to cut my hair! I haven’t been to a hair salon for over a year and a half (just one of those things I can live without during the pandemic), but my aunt had given me a lil’ trim over the summer. I was in desperate need for a lot more substantial of a trim, this time around, because my ends have been so damaged and crunchy lately. I think she ended up cutting off three inches, so you can’t really tell I got it cut at all. But boy, does it feel so much better now!

I’ve had this dress for a while but this is only the first time I’ve worn it out (since, you know, there was nowhere to go last summer). It looks and feels like a potato sack, but for some reason I absolutely love it! And it has little leopard trimmed pockets! So cute and easy to throw on.

Today I went with my grandpa to an equipment auction, and I was really excited to see all the big machinery and hear the auctioneer talk super fast. But sadly, once we got there, we found out it was moved entirely online! Boo. I spent the rest of the day helping my aunt and mom do some cleaning/reorganizing before having a big family dinner with takeout shrimp tacos. They were so yummy!

This was a horrible outfit to wear when cleaning/reorganizing a house (I didn’t know that was part of today’s plan or I would have worn pants!), and I honestly didn’t love the outfit anyway. I think it was just too dark because the black denim jacket and grey maxi skirt are so similar in color. I could have paired it with my blue jean jacket instead for something a little springier.

. . . . .

I am so grateful to have a spring break at all this year because I know a lot of semester schools decided to get rid of their breaks due to Covid stuff. Thank goodness for this week and a half off because having two quarters of school back-to-back (22 weeks, including finals weeks!) would be ROUGH.

How has your week been? Does your school get a spring break this year? I’m honestly already dreaming of summer! Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you have a great rest of your weekend.

Miles of smiles,
Grace
