Only a week left until spring break! I am beyond ready to finish this quarter of school, so I spent the past week on full Go mode trying to crank out some projects before my final exams next week. My to-do list is a mile long but for once I’m feeling motivated to tackle it! In other news, it was very warm the first few days of the week and I struggled to put together cute spring looks, since my current school wardrobe consists only of dark colors and sweaters. What am I most excited about for spring break? Switching out my clothes, duh.

This top is the springiest thing I have at school right now, so I decided to throw it on and knot it for a summery feel. I love it paired with these white platform sandals, but the jeans? I’m not sure how I feel about that combo. Denim should be neutral, but these jeans have a slight speckle that gives them a different sort of vibe than just normal denim… I don’t know, maybe I’m overthinking it. What are your thoughts on this look?

I spent most of the day doing a bunch of schoolwork, but then my friend and I took our yoga mats outside in the sun and spelled our last names as part of this workout on Pinterest. It was hard and we were definitely feeling sore the next few days!

Today was super fun because I did my first-ever Instagram takeover with the College Creator Collective, which you can watch in their highlight if you missed it. This black blouse and blue skirt was an easy combination for something feminine and chic. Do you remember when these lace-up flats were all the rage? Per usual, I had my research journal meeting at 6pm and made dinner with my boyfriend—tikka masala this time. We also made dirt cups for dessert (you know, pudding, crushed Oreos, and gummy worms) and I HIGHLY recommend it. Makes you feel like a kid again!

I had a slow morning because I got sucked into watching the Meghan Markle and Oprah interview… Usually I don’t pay attention to celebrities at all, but since my boyfriend and I have been watching “The Crown”, I was admittedly very interested in the whole thing (plus, everybody was talking about it and I had no idea what was going on). Afterwards, I worked on a business project all day, went on a quick walk with a friend, and ate more dirt cups for dessert.

I’ve worn this exact outfit in a blog post before, in my first year of blogging, and I love it for an easy spring look! The dress is so comfy and all the straps of the sandals help spice up this otherwise plain outfit.

Thursday, March 11

Thursdays are always my busiest days, so I wrote a blog post, went to class, did a Covid spit test, worked, and went to another meeting for the research journal. I haven’t worn this outfit before, and while I felt cute in it in person, I’m not sure how I feel about it looking back at this pic. I love the pop of leopard in the belt though! And I added a floral headband for a lil’ pattern mixing. I think maybe it’s my low bun, middle-part hairstyle that’s tripping me up.

Friday, March 12

Usually Fridays are pretty chill for me, but today was so busy! I worked on my Remote Sensing lab this morning and then went to office hours, followed by a work meeting for my research position. Generally those meetings just involve myself and my boss (I don’t really have ‘coworkers’), but today we met with four additional people who also work on the project, which was fun and so informative. I went on a walk with a friend and then rushed back for more office hours to discuss my Cartography final project (which I have been very stressed about). Finally, I went to the grocery store with a few people because we are supposed to get a record breaking snowstorm this weekend… Several feet of snow are predicted and we’ll probably be snowed in for a few days! I am just praying that the power and WiFi don’t go out because literally ALL of my homework/final projects are online…

Anyway, this dress is still one of my absolute favorites, even though I’ve had it for years! I love it paired with this thick pearl belt for a retro vibe, but I think wearing it with tall black boots instead of booties would have been chicer.

. . . . .

I just looked outside, and the snow has finally begun… duh duh duh. Although right now, it actually looks more like rain/sleet. This storm has been all anyone is talking about and I have received countless emails from the university, professors, my apartment, etc. I’m interested to see if it turns out to be as big a deal as everyone is saying! My hope is to break away from homework a little bit to go sledding on Sunday. I haven’t been sledding in forever (and my roommate has never been!), so I brought a few sleds back to school after winter break. Fingers crossed everything works out!

Which of this week’s outfits is your favorite? As always, thanks for stopping by today. Have a great weekend, and stay warm!

Miles of smiles,

Grace

  1. The purple dress with the strappy sandals is simply adorable on you! Easy to picture it also with a wide leather belt with boots that match the color of the belt. So happy you have kept this in your wardrobe. Have super fun sledding!
