I hope everyone had a decent Christmas and holiday season, given the circumstances! Usually I just share my outfits in these weekly recap posts, but admittedly, I spent a lot of the week relaxing in my pajamas… So today I’m sharing a few additional pics of life lately to fill in the blanks. I sure have been enjoying being home and doing nothing—enjoying it a little too much, I think!

Monday, December 21

This was one of those days I was talking about when I just stayed in loungewear all day (and not cute loungewear—I’m the type of person who wears an old oversized tee instead of one of those cute matching sets that took 2020 by storm). I spent the day binging Gilmore Girls as I wrapped presents and prepared for Christmas.

This outfit was an attempt at looking festive without sacrificing warmth. If I had a real place to go, I think this would’ve looked cute with red lipstick and my red Kate Spade purse.

At night, my parents and I decided to go for a drive to see the Christmas lights! We hadn’t been feeling very Christmas-y this year, so we tried to squeeze in some last-minute festive activities to prepare for the holiday. I simply googled the best-lit houses in our town and plotted a course for the closest locations. The house above was spectacular and by far the most lit, and we finished the night with a neighborhood that had so many well decorated houses, it felt like an expensive, professional drive-thru display.

My mom and I took care of some last-minute grocery and Christmas shopping at Fred Meyer in the morning, and in the afternoon my grandpa drove to town. It was so nice to have him here for Christmas! And since neither my parents nor I see anyone or go anywhere except the grocery store, we felt safe hosting him.

For my 21st birthday, my brother got me a super cool bartending set. I’m not really one for the alcohol itself, but I’ve always admired the art of bartending and have loved making non-alcoholic “mocktails” with various fruit juices and sparkling drinks since I was very young. I’ve been super excited to break into the bartending set, so I made some of these festive cranberry cocktails, complete with a lime and sugar rim! They weren’t good enough to share the recipe here, but at least the pic was cute.

I wrote my blog post in the morning and then made sugar cookies! I don’t really know anything about baking or cooking, so I’m glad they turned out well. Usually my mom makes a gingerbread house-shaped cake that I decorate, but this year I wanted to switch it up—and it was such a good choice because my parents joined in on the cookie decorating! Nothing gets you in the mood for Christmas like lots and lots of sweets, am I right?

Christmas day!! My parents, my grandpa, and I ate a nice breakfast, and then my brother and his girlfriend came over for present opening. The two of them stayed on the other side of the room and everybody wore masks, and then we Zoomed in my other brother and his fiancé. An unconventional Christmas, no doubt, but still a nice one! I didn’t get dressed until a little before dinner, and my outfit admittedly doesn’t look very festive in this pic. But my jacket is a dark green and navy plaid, and my rose gold necklace was a very special Christmas gift! I paired it with matching rose gold clip-on earrings. If I had worn makeup, I think a dark berry lip would have paired great with this outfit.

In the afternoon, my parents, my grandpa, and I played Euchre, ate a delicious dinner, and finished the night by watching Uncle Buck. We also tried another drink recipe called Jingle Juice—it was dangerously delicious!

I hope everyone had the best holiday season possible, even though it was really hard being away from loved ones. I’m very interested to see what everyone’s New Year’s Eve blog and social media posts will look like considering this year was, uh, not good, to put it in PG terms.

Regardless, I’m sending lots of love and well wishes to you this holiday season.

Miles of smiles,

Grace

  1. We had a normal Christmas here with the usual family members since we have seen each throughout vivid albeit a lot less often than usual. We don’t socialize much apart from family and my walking buddies so it was nice. Dome really cute outfits! Love that plaid jacket and also that scarf. I’ve been writing ahead some posts but I really need some blog pics for next Sunday!

  2. How nice to have your grandad over for Christmas! We had a very quiet festive season and juts like you, one of the things we’ve enjoyed the most was baking Christmas cookies and eating them right away. I couldn’t rsist. Thanks for sharing and have a lovely day, Grace. Aiva 🙂 xxx

    1. Thanks Aiva! Hope you had an amazing holiday. 🙂 I forgot how much fun it is to decorate cookies (and then eat them!).
