Weekly Recap #1, 2020

red vest, pink sweater, fall outfit, sweater weather

Even though my capsule wardrobe has now come to an end, I realized that I really enjoy writing weekly recap posts and sharing my OOTDs each Saturday. After all, I wear a lot more outfits than just the two I feature in my Monday and Thursday blog posts each week, and these recap posts allow me to share those additional looks with you. Not to mention, it holds me accountable to get dressed every day! I haven’t decided yet what the best title/format is for these recap posts, but bear with me as I try some things out in the coming weeks.

I virtually attended the last lecture of my GIS class for the quarter, followed by a Zoom meeting for my Passion Planner ambassadorship (if you’re in need of a new planner for 2021, check out this post and use my discount code GRACEG10—Passion Planner is having a huge sale right now). This dress is a rather fancy item for just lounging around the house, but now that I have my full closet back, I’ve been having so much fun breaking out different pieces!

I had my criminology and sustainability lectures back-to-back in the morning, and I went for a walk with my mom after lunch. When quarantine first started, my parents and I got into the habit of playing Bananagrams at least three times a day at lunch time, so now that I’m back home, I’ve been loving playing again. At 2:40, I registered for my classes for next quarter, and for once I got everything I wanted! I have had such a difficult time registering in the past and rarely get my first-choice courses. But now that I’m shifting focus to my geography second major, it seems that geography is much less popular than criminology (lucky for me).

I admittedly spent the entire morning in my lounge clothes, working on my final GIS project and asking my professor questions during virtual office hours. The project involves making several maps of Denver and geographically measuring the city’s diversity, which is kind of difficult but really cool to be able to do. I went on another walk with my mom, and we watched the third Harry Potter movie after dinner (we’ve been having a Harry Potter marathon all week and are watching one a night).

Today was the last day of classes for the quarter! After my criminology and sustainability lectures in the morning (sustainability was super interesting today—we discussed renewable energy and offshore wind farms!), I spent the afternoon studying for and then taking my two-hour GIS final exam. It was a lot harder than I expected, and I should’ve studied more. But oh well, at least I looked cute! I think today’s outfit was my favorite from the week.

I slept in today and then finished up my GIS project, which was due at midnight tonight. Other than that, I’m not sure what else I accomplished—obviously there was a lot of time-wasting to be had! Unfortunately, while classes are over, the quarter isn’t officially finished for me just yet. My criminology and Hindu classes require final essays, and my sustainability final exam isn’t until after Thanksgiving. So close yet still so far!

After finishing this blog post, today’s plan includes writing birthday thank you notes, accomplishing tasks for my research position, and planning outfits for upcoming blog posts (I desperately need to take some photos). Life is definitely less exciting back at home—although, as I am writing this, I see a massive spider crawling across the carpet towards me… not the kind of excitement I was hoping for—eek!

Which outfit from this week is your favorite?? I’d love to hear in the comments below! Usually I would take my daily outfit pics in front of my full length mirror, but here at home, the lighting in my room is terrible. I decided to take my OOTD pics outside instead, which is much more of a hassle and less uniform, but at least the lighting is decent. What do you think?

As always, thank you so much for stopping by my little blog. Your support means so much to me, and I hope you have a great rest of your weekend!

Miles of smiles,

Grace

  1. I love your Wednesday’s outfit, Grace, and I really like the outside photos. I always tend to prefer to capture pictures outdoors, particularly on a cloudy day as it produces very soft light. Also being outside is way more exciting and unpredictable. Thanks for sharing and have a lovely day 😘 Aiva

    1. Thank you Aiva! I agree, a slightly cloudy day is perfect for taking pics outside. I know I commented on Instagram but I never said it here… I hope you and your husband both had great birthdays!!

  2. I can never get indoor photos to turn out even though we have a ton of natural light in this house, haha! Outdoor photos are always my fave 🙂 I like seeing what people actually wear too! these are really cute outfits! the Monday dress one is my favourite as I used to have a very similar dress!

Hope you are having a great weekend 🙂 We went out and did more Christmas shopping yesterday which was fun 🙂

    1. Thank you Mica! And haha I have the same problem! Indoor photos are just so hard. I’m always amazed when people take good ones. And ooh that does sound fun – I really need to start getting Christmas presents for people.

  3. I had 182 hours on my Bachelor’s degree, because I found so many topics interesting and had trouble getting focused. (Yeah classes were a lot less expensive then.) But when you talk about your classes, I find myself thinking “that sounds interesting!” Hindu? Cool!

Your outfits always look nice, Grace! The purple and pink plaid skirt is so awesome.
