Happy Monday! Hard to believe, but it’s already time for another collaboration with the Thrifty Six. The Thrifty Six is a group of international fashion bloggers who get together once a month to showcase our thrifted styles and inspire you to shop more secondhand items. This month’s theme is sparkles—just in time for the upcoming holiday season! I decided to keep my sparkles a little more casual for this collab and styled an outfit that would be perfect for Thanksgiving.

After hearing that this month’s theme was sparkles, I instantly knew I wanted to incorporate this rust-colored sparkly sweater into my outfit, which I stole from my mother’s giveaway pile as she was cleaning out her closet over the summer. Unfortunately, the sparkles didn’t really show up in these photos—but I swear the sweater has the prettiest gold threads throughout! It fits oversized, which is perfect for that “cozy sweater look” that’s very on-trend right now.

This isn’t the outfit I had originally planned for this blog post, but it was snowing on photoshoot day… and I wasn’t about to take pics in just a sweater and miniskirt in the freezing weather. So instead, I added a pearl-embellished infinity scarf, boot socks, leopard rain boots, and a thicker skirt than originally planned. It was a much warmer outfit but still chilly, as you can probably tell from these pics. I took just enough for this post and then booked it inside to get warm and change into dry clothes! (Thankfully the snow stopped, but it continued to rain throughout the photoshoot, hence the wet hair.)

I love the fall vibes of this outfit—especially the leopard purse and booties—and I think it looks so cute with the complementing green and yellow of the bushes surrounding me. Do you already have a Thanksgiving outfit picked out? I haven’t thought much about the holiday yet, but I generally try to pick the most loose-fitting garments I can find… gotta leave room for growth after all that food!

“When I found out the theme for this month’s Thrifty Six collab was sparkle I knew I had to wear this dress. It is the perfect antidote to the long, dark evenings and depressing news we’re bombarded with daily. When I bought it on eBay I had absolutely no idea when or where I would get to wear it, but I’m not always a practical shopper. Sometimes it’s good to let the heart rule the head!”

“Sparkles in the darkness…I wanted to truly capture the warm iridescent glow of this rose gold sequin dress. It comes to life when darkness falls! A dress for underground nightclubs, louche parties and minor festive misdemeanours…I stood in blackness throwing my body into sculptural shapes to twist and contort the glistening sequins. I let the flash of the camera work its magic to reveal the resplendent lustre for all to see…”

“So, I have this darling, colorful Dimora dress that I absolutely love, but on its own…it truly makes me look drabby and matronly. But the colours are just too good and I really wanna wear it!  So, here comes a bustier to change it all up while adding a good dose of pizzazz! I jumped for joy when I thrifted this one a few years back. I collect great accessories, so I was thrilled with this sequin darling. I do classify bustiers as accessories, as I rarely, if ever, wear them on their own. They are just the right thing to enhance any outfit. Take a look at how I styled up this one and tell me this outfit doesn’t make for great conversation?”

“When Jane gave us the theme Sparkle, I immediately thought of my new glitter sweater! Wait….new???? We are The Thrifty Six! Oops. I almost started to shop for a pre loved sparkly item and then the light bulb started to glow! Yes, my, new to me, pre loved metallic silver looking skirt! I love this skirt. It’s so stretchy and easy to wear and yet so cool! Hurray for sparkles!”

“When Jane chose sparkles as the theme this month, I used it as an opportunity to use my limited time 50% off coupon at my local Thrifty Shopper. That is where I found most of this outfit! The sequined chambray jacket might be my favorite thrifted item ever. I love the style, the color, and the fun sparkles! The little black skirt and my graphic tee shirt are both bedazzled with lots of rhinestone sparkles as well. The jacket and tee shirt were both marked $4.99 and the skirt was marked $5.99. With my coupon, I paid $8 for all three pieces! My beaded bag was also a thrift shop find from Salvation Army and I paid $3 for it. Since we were going sparkly, I had to wear sparkle footwear as well. These gray shimmery booties are from Torrid a few years ago. And my Happiness Boutique Necklace and Earrings were the perfect accessories to showcase an outfit that’s all about the sparkle!”

  1. Grace, I simply adore this darling outfit for fall and for Thanksgiving! And I love that you swiped it from your mom’s donate pile! What’s better than preloved AND free?! The colors are all so pretty and you look super cozy. I love the oversized chunky sweater trend especially when paired with cute mini skirts. Well done, my friend!
