Capsule Wardrobe Outfits: Week 8

Holy cow, I think this was the most stressful week of school I’ve had this year! Per usual, all my professors decided to make major projects due at the same time—don’t you just love when that happens?? But thankfully, the last of my work was due yesterday at midnight, so I can spend most of the weekend packing—more on that down below.

Monday, November 2

Another Monday gone without putting on real clothes! The weather was super nice today, so I wore shorts and a t-shirt on my routine Monday walk with a friend. I spent the afternoon reading Big Chicken for my sustainability class, and I made a run to Target later in the day to pick up some birthday decorations for my boyfriend. By the way—Target has a very cute selection of themed party supplies, including the most adorable shark-themed set!

Tuesday, November 3

I had my usual sociology and sustainability classes in the morning, followed by an afternoon grocery store run with my roommate. This week really wasn’t that interesting because I spent SO much time working on school stuff! Tuesday was all about writing a book review/essay for Big Chicken.

Since my jumpsuit has spaghetti straps, I finally decided to try a sticky bra, which I bought yesterday at Target, and I was shocked by how well it worked! I’ve linked it here. Have you ever used or wanted to try a sticky bra before?

I went to my GIS lab in the morning and spent the afternoon working on my last business project of the quarter (I had to create a pitch deck worthy of delivering to investors). At 5 o’clock, I met with my business professor to get his feedback on the deck. Unfortunately, there was still a lot of improvements to be made, so I scheduled another meeting with him for Thursday. I also had a big group presentation due the next day, and finally, after a few hours of waiting, my group was ready to meet at 10 o’clock at night—ugh! But thankfully we got it done.

Thursday, November 5

Today we finally got the dreaded email… the one saying school will be moving entirely online for the rest of the quarter. Due to rapidly rising Covid cases in the area (and an inevitable spike after Halloween celebrations) the final two weeks of school will be virtual. Honestly, I’m just grateful and very impressed that we lasted as long as we did; I expected to receive this email much earlier in the quarter. And with this and that, my parents decided to pick me up and drive me home this coming Wednesday, which is why I have to start packing ASAP!

Other than the big news, my Thursday was very busy, with my usual sociology class and our group presentations in my sustainability class. I had an advising appointment in the afternoon to discuss my new geography major, and I made a run to Whole Foods to pick up my boyfriend’s favorite dessert for his birthday tomorrow. Oh, I also met with my business professor again, and this time I totally nailed my pitch deck! He loved it.

(By the way, today’s outfit has the same white top/polka dot skirt combo as the first photo of this blog post, in case you hadn’t noticed.)

Friday, November 6

Today was my boyfriend’s birthday! To celebrate, I decorated his apartment with the balloons and birthday banner I bought at Target on Monday, and I set up a special scavenger hunt for him involving all the places on campus that are meaningful to our relationship. After spending some time finishing up my GIS lab for the week as well as my Big Chicken book review, we spent the night eating a nice dinner, watching “The Crown”, opening presents, and enjoying dessert (with birthday candles, of course). It was a very fun day!

General Thoughts on My First Capsule Wardrobe

I’ve decided that in future capsule wardrobes, I’m not going to pack anything white. White items are a pain since you have to wash them separately, and in a capsule (and in my normal closet as well) I don’t have enough white pieces to make the load of laundry worthwhile. This week was the first time I’ve worn that white top (Thursday’s outfit) all quarter, so clearly I didn’t get enough use out of it to make it a worthy part of my capsule.

Now that I have such a quick turnaround to pack and clean the apartment before leaving on Wednesday, my weekend won’t be as relaxing as I had planned (though I do love packing). Hopefully I find some spare time to catch up on everything in the blogging world—I’m so behind on comments and link-ups! Also, I just realized that since I’m going home early, my capsule wardrobe is coming to an end… Guess I’ll have to share my final recap post a little earlier than planned. Anyway, I hope you all had a great week, and thanks for stopping by.

Miles of smiles,

Grace

  1. Hope your boyfriend had a nice Birthday, so you guys share the same Birthday months, just like me and my husband? As always, I love your outfits. The weather is miserable and cold right now in Ireland, so we are properly wrapped in winter coats! Thanks for sharing and have a good day 😀 Aiva

    1. Thanks Aiva! Yes, our birthdays are only three days apart! That’s fun that you and your husband’s birthdays are in November too. It’s super cold and rainy here as well, so I’ve been bundled up inside all day! Happy birthday month to you, and thanks for stopping by. 🙂

  2. Lots of cute outfits this week! So how long is your semester break? Thanksgiving till January? I have also been surprised school has been open so long here, the high school did go back to hybrid for 2 and half weeks but I am wondering what will happen in between and after the holidays.

    1. Yes, I’m interested to see too! The schedule is super weird this year – finals week is online the first week of December, and then we’re supposed to go back to school a week later than usual, on January 11. There are already lots of rumors that next quarter will be entirely online again… so we’ll see.
