Capsule Wardrobe Outfits: Week 7

model casting call, modeling, Denver Fashion Week

Happy Halloween! The WiFi in my entire neighborhood went out late last night, and it was supposed to be fixed by 12:30 PM today… which it wasn’t. I finally got sick of waiting for it and decided to come to campus to publish this blog post. As if access to the internet wasn’t important enough before, the pandemic has brought reliance on good WiFi to a whole new level. But anyway, I was extremely unproductive this week, and nothing too exciting happened (aside from maybe this WiFi fiasco?). So without further ado, here are my outfits and a weekly recap!

Monday, October 26

Like I said, I had a really unproductive week (I’ve been feeling painfully unmotivated to do schoolwork) and today was the worst of it. It snowed a couple inches on Sunday, so Monday was extremely cold and dreary—a high of 15 degrees! I had my GIS lecture online, boldly went for a walk at a nearby park with my friend, and spent the afternoon… sleeping. Yep. I wasted a lot of time, got into bed for a short nap, and then accidentally stayed there for way longer than I intended. Yikes! I just wore my workout clothes and lots of warm layers, so no cute outfit today.

Today was… frustrating. I had my online sociology lecture and then my sustainability class (which was actually really entertaining—the professor is always trying to get a rise out of his students). But in the afternoon, I spent a couple hours trying to take blog photos, and they were just not turning out. I hate when that happens! Tuesday nights are when my boyfriend and I make dinner together, so today we had breakfast for dinner—bagel sandwiches with eggs, bacon, cheese, and jam. This outfit was featured in Wednesday’s pearl-themed post with the Magnificent 8, in case you missed it!

I had an essay due tonight at midnight, so being unproductive was no longer an option… I went to my GIS lab, walked with my friend in the park again, skyped my friend from high school, and then got to writing my essay. At least I finally finished it!

The week started to turn around at this point. After my two in-person classes in the morning, I spent the afternoon actually getting stuff done! What a surprise. I wrote another essay, again due at midnight, and then I attended the virtual meeting for my school’s research journal. I spent the rest of the night eating ice cream and watching The Crown with a friend!

Friday, October 30

I had a virtual meeting with a planning committee at noon, and then I spent the afternoon doing school work, research for my job, and blog stuff. My roommate and I went on a late-night run to the nearby cookie shop for gluten-free ice cream cookie sandwiches, which were amazing!

Saturday, October 31

I woke up this morning with a plan and the mindset to get a lot of work done, so you can imagine my disappointment when I found out the WiFi is down. Basically everything on my to-do list requires the internet, so I just spent the day playing Mario Kart with my roommate, writing this blog post, and reading a little. I don’t have any wild plans for Halloween, but my roommate and I are planning on going to an outdoor school event tonight that’s supposed to have tarot card readings, pumpkins, etc. I also want to make us brownies as a Halloween treat and then watch a scary movie later in the night! Assuming the WiFi comes back so we can access Netflix…

Even though I don’t have a real costume today, I do have this skeleton shirt that, funny enough, I won in a dance-off at a Halloween party in middle school. It’s still one of my favorite tees! I was also planning on painting my face as something spooky just for fun, but I realized that’s pretty pointless considering I have to wear a face mask… So yah. I decided to nix that idea.

General Thoughts on My First Capsule Wardrobe

I spent some time this week counting up how many times I’ve worn all my capsule items so far, and to my surprise, there are a lot of pieces I haven’t worn at all yet. This experience has been really great because it’s teaching me just how little I really need in a wardrobe (and how many more pieces I can take home over winter break), which will be an awesome skill to have if I get to study abroad next fall and have to pack a season’s worth of clothing into one suitcase.

Hope you all have a fun and safe Halloween tonight if you’re celebrating and that you find a way to make the most of it! Thanks for stopping by the blog today, and enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Miles of smiles,

Grace

  1. We spent part of the day trying to figure out our bikes on a car rack we are thinking to get from our neighbors, destroyed one of my tires and had to buy a new one amd when on a small bike ride. I did do a 5K this am in town and that was fun. Hope tomorrow is more relaxed. I want hubby to put up 2 key racks in my closet to hang belts and necklaces. I really like your dress outfit and that let tee is really fun!

    1. Oh no! That stinks about your tire! I hope you get the racks hung; that sounds like a good organizational tool.

  2. How lovely to read about your week. Isn’t it just so irritating when we don’t have any Wi-Fi. You are very creative with your clothes and that is such a good thing! I applaud you!
