Capsule Wardrobe Outfits: Week 5

Hope you’re having a great Saturday so far! I’m coming on here a lot later than usual because I’m spending the weekend with my boyfriend at his family’s house, which means I’ve basically forgotten about all my responsibilities… in the best sort of way! It was a busy week, as I took two midterms and tried to get ahead before the weekend, and I have another midterm and a few essays due next week. Time sure flies while in college! Now, without further ado, here are this week’s capsule outfits.

I started the week with my last GIS lecture before our midterm, and then I spent the afternoon studying with a friend for our sustainability test. The rest of the night just involved homework and chores, and for once I had a very productive day. How can you not when you’re rocking such fun lace-up pants?!

I had my sociology lecture in the morning, during which we discussed the intersections of violence, class, and masculinity. Then I had my sustainability lecture, where we talked about population growth – SO interesting! Maybe I should become a demographer?? In the afternoon, I had an academic advising meeting over Zoom to plan out the rest of my time in college and to decide on a graduation date… Feels like just yesterday I was an excited, wide-eyed lil’ freshman! Also, on an unrelated note, these white mules have been on repeat lately; they seriously go with so much and elevate any outfit.

It was warm today, so I opted for a peplum top, rose gold statement necklace, and skinny jeans. The only schoolwork I had today was my GIS midterm, which was online and could be taken any time between 8 am and midnight. I decided to get it out of the way at 8:30 after some last-minute studying. Later in the day, I had another meeting for the freshman retreat planning committee of which I’m apart, and I spent the afternoon taking blog photos and studying for my second midterm. Busy busy!

It was a hectic morning and the first one that truly felt like fall! I was excited to snag this sweater off my mom when I helped her clean her closet over the summer. I actually bought this sweater for her a few years ago, but she said it gets really static-y. So I gladly took it off her hands! I spent the morning finishing packing and cleaning up the apartment before the weekend trip. I had my sociology class and then took my sustainability midterm from 10-noon, which turned out to be easy-peasy! My boyfriend and I left around 12:30 and arrived at our destination around 6. It was a beautiful drive through the mountains, and I loved seeing all the fall colors!

We mostly spend the day relaxing, going through the car wash in the afternoon (which I enjoy immensely) and carving pumpkins in the evening. We also ate homemade apple pie, which was unsurprisingly delicious! And, of course, I forgot to take a picture in my outfit. Whoops.

General Thoughts on My First Capsule Wardrobe

As much as I miss all my clothes at home, I feel like I still could’ve brought far fewer items to school. I’m already seeing which pieces I reach for over and over again and which ones I hardly wear, so clearly I could have left the latter category back at home (like the polka dot pants I wore on Tuesday, for example). Although, I’m excited once I go back to my house because it’s going to feel like I have a whole new wardrobe! Talk about shopping your own closet.

Thanks for stopping by today, even though this post went up really late. Today we went driving through the mountains and saw some old mines, which was really cool! And I think tonight we’ll be playing games altogether, but the BF and I will be heading back to Denver tomorrow morning. Hope you all have a great rest of your weekend, and see you Monday!

Miles of smiles,

Grace

  1. What cute outfits!! I’m glad you felt you had too many options, definitely a good capsule! I really like the peplum top outfit and the Thursday outfit, that’s a really cute knit on you! 🙂

Hope you are having a nice weekend! 🙂

  2. So hard to pick my favourite outfit; I genuinely love them all. I hope you are having lots of fun at college. Most of my friends who are studying, have to do it online and it’s not the same as attending classes. Thanks for sharing your outfit ideas, Grace, the dark red/burgundy colour looks divine on you. Take care 😊 Aiva xx

    1. Thank you so much, Aiva! And yes, while things are weird and different being back at school, I am so grateful to be here. It is nice to be able to leave the house and actually have purpose! Learning online is just so difficult.
