8 Ways to Style a Black Corduroy Skirt

Ah… My favorite skirt. It’s about time I dedicated a whole blog post to it. This black corduroy skirt was a birthday present from my parents my freshman year of college, and I very distinctly remember unwrapping it in a hotel room in downtown Denver (in this outfit, I might add). But the details aren’t important—what is important is that this skirt has become arguably the most worn item in my closet! It seriously goes with SO much, the corduroy texture is perfect for fall, and I cannot recommend this style enough. Keep scrolling to check out all the ways I’ve worn this skirt on the blog since November 2018!

1. Monochrome

Go for a monochrome look by pairing your skirt with a black patterned top. This outfit is perfect for those transitional days where it’s still too hot out for sweaters! Just throw on a jean jacket for a light layer and you’re good to go. Hopefully we’ll finally settle into sweater weather soon, as it’s still been a little warm here in Denver… You can check out more of this outfit here.

2. Animal Print

Pair the skirt with your favorite animal print! Snakeskin, leopard, zebra, green leopard… the possibilities are endless and oh-so-cute for fall. See the original blog post here.

3. Bold Colors

Style your corduroy skirt with a bright pop of color and edgy accessories for a sassy lil’ outfit. Just maybe… skip the acne, haha. Check out the full look here!

4. Fall Accessories

For a perfect fall (and pandemic-friendly) outfit, pair your skirt with a ribbed tee or bodysuit, slap on some booties, and finish the outfit off with a denim jacket and fall-colored bag. See more of this masked outfit (and two additional masked looks!) in Monday’s blog post.

5. Military Style

Layer a blush or other neutral tee under a utility/military-style jacket for alllll the fall vibes. And don’t forget to add some flowers! Read about why photoshoots are good for the soul in this blog post.

6. Touch of Blue

Temperatures already dropped where you live? No problem. Pair your skirt with a thicker jacket and add colorful matching accessories. May I recommend jewel tones such as emerald green, sapphire blue, and amethyst purple? You can’t go wrong! Check out more of this super cute outfit in this post.

7. Colorful Florals

I wore this outfit last fall to a local farmer’s market! Pair your skirt with a floral tee, or any patterned top with fun colors in it. You know, those tops you usually only pair with jeans ‘cause you don’t know what else to wear them with? See more of this look and read some college haikus in this blog post.

8. Sweater Weather

And last but not least, one of my favorite outfits! Tuck a cozy sweater into your skirt and add a blanket scarf and matching bag. BOOM, so cute for fall (and you can’t beat that windswept look). See more here.

Which of these eight outfits was your favorite?? I know I’ve featured this skirt in a couple of my OOTD blog posts as well. It’s just that versatile! Be sure to check out some of the black skirts linked in the widget below if you don’t have one already… ‘Cause seriously. I don’t know what I wore before I owned this skirt!

Hope you all have a great Thursday, and talk to you soon.

Miles of smiles,

Grace

Today’s black corduroy skirt was purchased at Francesca’s for $35.
