Made it through week 2 of the quarter! Things are getting a little dicier here on campus regarding the coronavirus, but I’m hoping the school will make it through this first phase and that we’ll be able to continue learning in person. This was another busy week, and I didn’t end up doing much other than homework… But hey, at least I did it in style!

I had one class in the morning on Zoom, and then I went to campus for a socially distanced picnic with my friend. I spent the afternoon doing homework, working on blog stuff, and going for a late walk around the area.

I love how this sort-of 60s retro vibe outfit turned out! (This is the same top + headband combo as my post about quarantine hair, featured at the beginning of today’s post.) I had my sociology lecture and sustainability class back-to-back in the morning, and then I scurried home at noon to call my grandpa! We had to interview a grandparent and write a paper for my sustainability class about the grandparent’s consumption practices in their youth. It was SO fun to chat with my grandpa and hear about his life as a child during the Great Depression and the war. It was the highlight of my week!

I had a class at 10 this morning and then my next meeting wasn’t until 6 o’clock… I tried so hard to be productive all day, but I just wasn’t feeling it! Ugh. This was the first time I wore these fun dotted sandals and I loved them. They weren’t supposed to be apart of my capsule wardrobe, but when I ordered them, the only place I could ship them at the time was to Denver. So now I just have random yellow sandals that don’t really go with the majority of my (capsule) closet. Do you think these shoes look weird with this dress? I thought it was a cute combo in person, but now that I see it in a photo, I’m not so sure…

I had two classes in the morning and two online club meetings in the afternoon. I attended the South Asian Student Alliance’s meeting and we got to learn how to write our names in Hindi! Which was so cool. Other than that—you guessed it—I just did school and blog work.

I didn’t even get dressed in real clothes today! I went for a walk in the morning and then spent the afternoon trying to make a map of U.S. hummingbird populations for my GIS class—it was actually really difficult. I did some blog work as well and finished the day by doing laundry! A wild Friday night, I know.
General Thoughts on My First Capsule Wardrobe
It was still in the mid-80s this week temperature-wise, and I was really struggling with putting together summer-like outfits. Most of the clothes I brought are more geared towards fall, so my options for what to wear (and stay cool!) were rather limited. I found myself wishing for some lightweight transitional skirts (like those ones with the single ruffle at the bottom that are super popular right now), and I also wish I had brought more shorts. I only packed one pair of fashion shorts, but with all these socially distanced picnics, shorts and pants are kinda the only thing to wear! (Don’t wanna be flashing anybody…)
This morning I went on a hike with some girlfriends, which was super fun! I’m trying to make a better effort this school year to explore Colorado/the surrounding areas more, and there’s no better time to get outdoors than during this pandemic (‘cause you know, what else are we gonna do?). Hope you had a great week and an even better weekend! Thanks for stopping by today.
Miles of smiles,
Grace
Your outfits and so beautiful and girly; loved every single one of them, especially the polka dot skirt paired with a red t-shirt, Grace! I hope you are enjoying school. Have a good day 😀 Aiva 😊
Thank you Aiva! School has been going well so far, thanks. 🙂
The yellow shoes are so cute. I like them with the dress. They could go with the red and polka dot outfit too. Your blog is a fun read. Thanks
Thank you, Sefanie! And you’re so right, I didn’t even think about pairing the yellow shoes with the red and polka dot outfit, but that’d be so cute!
