V-Day, Valentine's Day outfit, red blouse

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and I LOVE coming up with festive red and pink outfits, whether they be for date nights or a night out with the girls. I’ve already seen so many cute V-Day looks on Instagram and Pinterest this season! While heart and lip patterned items can be cute, it’s usually difficult for me to find pieces that aren’t tacky, which is why I prefer to stick to classic red and pink clothing. That way you can wear them throughout the year, rather than saving pieces exclusively for February, and you can accessorize with glam V-Day themed jewelry and hair pieces instead. So without further ado, I decided to round up some stylin’ red and pink pieces for you to shop before February 14, as well as sharing my own Valentine inspired outfit from items already in my closet. Just click any of the tiny shoppable photos to be redirected to the store’s website!

I’ve been really into brooches lately, so how CUTE is this rose brooch and G initial pin?? The G was from Michael’s (yes, the craft store) for $4 and the rose brooch is a hand-me-down. Made me think of the Bachelor as I put it on—ha!

This red blouse is one of the only red items I own, but I wear it all the time. Red is a really good color for my skin tone and I love how bold it is, so I’m not sure why I don’t wear red more often. I don’t own very many pink items, either, so usually my V-Day outfits involve either this blouse or my one light pink sweater (black skirts also seem to be a theme).

Now onto the shopping! I first rounded up some cute heart-themed jewelry and hair clips. I think all of these pieces are very tasteful (rather than tacky) and will be fun to wear now… but still stylish after Valentine’s Day. My favorites are the pearl heart hairclips and the gold heart earrings with the single dangling pearls. So cute! Plus, they’re the perfect way to dress up a plain red or pink top to make it festive for the holiday.

Next I rounded up some red and pink sweaters, ’cause we all know Valentine’s Day isn’t always the warmest holiday! There are lots of stylish options here, and my favorite is definitely the first red sweater with the ruffle open-back. Simple but still flirty.

And now some blouses. I tried to find a range of styles, from casual daytime pieces to sassy night-out looks, for whatever you plan on doing on V-Day. And you can’t beat the prices! Look at all the sales – these options are $20 or less.

And of course, it wouldn’t be Valentine’s Day without sharing a selection of dresses. New dresses at Francesca’s are $30 right now, so if you see something you like that’s out of your price range, be sure to click the image to see the actual price on the website (sometimes the sale is only applied once you add the item to your cart). Lots of fun and flirty options here!

Finally, if you are into cutesy heart and lip-patterned items, I found a few pieces that aren’t too crazy. My favorite is the white tee with the little arrow heart – how cute would it look paired with a red or pink skirt?

Here are a few more fun V-Day-specific pieces. I’m obsessed with the heart patterned tights and would wear those year-round! And there are some cute trendy headbands in there too.

Which pieces are your favorite?! Are you excited for Valentine’s Day, or do you dread the holiday? I’ve always loved V-Day (any excuse to celebrate, amirite?) as a way to show appreciation for the family and friends we love in our lives, not just the people we’re dating. And of course, who doesn’t enjoy all the candy?! Valentine’s Day is especially a day to show self-love, so go ahead and treat yourself to a cute new item or do something fun, just because you want to. I shared a list of ideas last year in this post!

If you like my own outfit a lot, you can recreate it with some of the pieces below (or look for any red top/black skirt combinations in your own closet!).

Have a wonderful Monday and start to your week! And happy shopping. I hope you find something good if you’re in the market for new V-Day themed clothing. I know I could definitely do some damage (but what’s new?). The next blog post this week will be published on Wednesday, instead of Thursday, because I’m collaborating with the Magnificent 8 again to share our take on styling heirloom pieces. Stay tuned for that, and I’ll see you on Wednesday!

Miles of smiles,

Grace

  1. We won’t go out for Valentine’s but are planning a date the week after. Going to wear a dress I haven’t worn in a couple years. Shirt and sleeveless so will add leggings, heels and a leather jacket. It has some red, black and dark green in it. Probably will end up in a blog post 😃.
Love the texture of your top!

    1. Same here! My boyfriend will be gone during Valentine’s Day so we’re postponing it ’til the week after too. Ooh, sounds so cute! Can’t wait to see your look! Have a great day. 🙂
