By this point, it’s likely no surprise that I LOVE the store Francesca’s (I know it’s at least not a surprise to my friends, who like to poke fun about how many Francesca’s items I own—like my favorite skirt in the photo above). Usually Francesca’s is a little pricey for a college student budget, but the store has been having so many great sales recently, I just couldn’t resist doing a little shopping! Today I’m sharing 4 perfect-for-summer items I scored on major sale, 3 of which are still steeply discounted. I’m also breaking down how they fit, what sizes I bought, how to style them, etc. Get your wallets ready, ladies!
First up is this super cute navy romper. I love the color navy for summer because it’s chic but not quite as harsh as black. Also, I’ve been trying to find a romper forever and this one is finally it! The shoulders have little ties and the shorts have a subtle design along the hem. Yes, I know I need to steam it.
Fit: I ordered the small, but I was torn between a small and a medium. (For reference I’m 5’5”.) When I’ve tried on rompers in the past, they usually are too short for me and don’t fit up and over my shoulders. This one works though because the shoulder ties are actually functional and you can adjust the length of the romper—perfect for long-torsoed gals like me. The shorts also aren’t too short, which is nice. The waist is elastic and easy to stretch over the bootay when pulling it on and off. Because the straps are adjustable, the top half is like a wrap dress and therefore can result in a lot of cleavage if you bend over. This can be easily solved by adding a little safety pin on the inside to keep the top closed or by wearing a lacey bralette (which I think would be super cute with this).
Price: Originally was $44, but I bought it for $15! It’s still on sale for that price and comes in two other colors as well. BUY IT HERE.
Style It With:
- A jean jacket and espadrilles for a casual day out
- A kimono and sandals for a beachy, vacation look
- Heels and statement jewelry for a night on the town
Next up is this adorable lavender top. I don’t know why I couldn’t get the color to show up in these photos, but it’s the prettiest shade of pastel purple. And how adorable are those little white flowers all over the blouse?!
Fit: I ordered a small in this top and it fits perfectly. If you have any semblance of a chest, however, I would recommend sizing up. The little cinching in the front is not functional, but you can retie the bow yourself. The waist is elastic and I love the little peplum detail. The straps are wide, which I appreciate because you can wear a regular bra with it. The blouse is a little on the cropped side, which works well with summer shorts and skirts that have a higher rise.
Price: This blouse was $44, but once again, I got it for only $15! And you can too by BUYING IT HERE. Gotta put it in all caps so the people who just skim this post can find where to buy the goods, hehe.
Style It With:
- Jean shorts and bow flats, as seen here
- A white denim skirt and sandals for a casual date look
- A floral skater skirt and jean jacket (I’m planning on doing this one to showcase some pattern mixing!)
Next are these ultra-comfy, pink shorts. The material is soft and cool, perfect for hot summer days. I usually live in skirts and loose shorts like these during the summer months! Admittedly, these shorts are probably the least versatile of the items I bought, but switching up the accessories can make very different outfits.
Fit: I actually ordered a small in these shorts, but I usually wear a medium in bottoms because your girl got a booty. Thankfully, the small ended up fitting perfectly, and the waistband is elastic so I don’t have to worry about that annoying gaping at the waist that is the result of having hips. Again, the length of these shorts isn’t too short and the material is super comfy. The strings actually cinch to make the waist tighter.
Price: These shorts were originally $34 but I got them for $15. They’re still on sale also, but the small size is sold out. You can PURCHASE THEM HERE!
Style It With:
- A white tee knotted at the front and a jean jacket
- A crème crochet top and brown circle purse (as shown here)
- A black camisole and sassy black sandals for a more dressed-up look
Last but not least are these super fun and funky palazzo pants! I’ll be honest, I was very on the fence about these pants from the beginning. I wasn’t sure if I should order them online but pulled the trigger anyway. I wasn’t sure about them once I tried them on…BUT after having a fashion show in my bedroom and trying on lots of different pieces with them, I love the pants so much! They’re very 70s-esque, which usually isn’t my style but these pants are the exception. And how can you not love a bold pattern?! They’re just so sassy!
Fit: I ordered a medium in these pants. They’re a little long, so I’ll have to wear heels with them (but I’m okay with that because then my legs look a mile long). They are also too big in the waist but are snug across the booty—classic girl problems. They definitely would not have fit if I ordered a small. While the gaping at the waist is annoying, I found a way to fix it by covering it with a belt! (That, or of course you could eat a big breakfast and be bloated the rest of the day—then the waist would surely fit.) I already had the belt in these photos from a different dress, but it looks like it was made to go with these pants. The material of the pants has no stretch so there is a zipper in the back. Yes, there are some minor fit issues with these pants, but I’m willing to look past them.
Price: I bought these for $15 (which is why I’m okay with the fit problems), but unfortunately now they are back to $44. If you really want them, I would recommend waiting until they go on sale again. While I love the pants and have been looking for a palazzo pant replacement, I would not spend $44 on these. I also fear they might get static-y, but that has yet to be seen. Regardless, BUY THEM HERE or save the link to check if it goes on sale!
Style It With:
- A turquoise mock-neck top and white heels, as seen here
- The crème crochet top from the previous outfit and tall wedges for a vacation look
- A black lace camisole and statement earrings for a night out
