Happy 4th of July! I hope you get the chance to celebrate today with friends, yummy food, and lots of fireworks. I’d love to hear what your plans are in the comments below. 🙂 While today marks our country’s celebration, tomorrow marks a personal celebration in my own life…the two year anniversary for blogging. Yep, that’s right, I started Graceful Rags back on July 5th in 2016. But for some reason, I don’t feel like celebrating, and here’s why…
I’ve been feeling really conflicted about my blog lately. The truth of the matter is, I feel like I want to quit blogging altogether. Posting three times a week and updating my social media feels like a chore now, when it was only supposed to be fun. I won’t bore you with all my frustrations with blogging, but even though I feel this way, I can’t seem to let go of it.
There’s a part of me that knows how much I would miss it if I stopped. Before blogging, I had this constant itchiness for creativity, but this little corner of the internet fulfilled that need for me. I also feel like stopping now would be quitting before I reached my dreams for this blog. While growth has been slow, I have put so much work into Graceful Rags, and I don’t want to just let go of all my progress.
Can you see my dilemma? I want to enjoy blogging again, but first I have to figure out how. That’s why I’ve decided that I will be taking a break from Graceful Rags. You may have already noticed an absence on Instagram the last few days, and I missed Monday’s blog post. I will not be publishing any new content here until August 1st. As for social media, I don’t think I’ll be posting on Instagram either. I never liked it anyway so it will be a good break!
I’m hoping this blogging hiatus will help me explore ways to revitalize my love of blogging and give me time to think about what I want to do next. I feel very sad just writing this. However, I strongly believe that this time off will give me a chance to sort through this internal conflict. Thank you so much for understanding, and I hope to see you again in August!
Have a wonderful (and safe) 4th of July today. 🙂
Miles of smiles,
Grace
